Hi,

Interesting question - my wife currently has a Canadian PR application in progress; I began the sponsorship process back in May. Who knows when its going to be finished; we are both living outside Canada and the entire application has been sent to Bufallo NY.

She currently holds a 1 year multi entry TRV; which we have gone and come back numerous times on now. It expires in a few days.

Does anyone here on Thaivisa have any experienced with this ? Will CIC Canada generally issue another one, while there is a PR application in progress? We are interested in going to Canada for christmas, and possibly in October.

My wife also holds a US B1/B2 visa which expiress in another year. CIC Canada couldn't deny her a TRV for Canada when she can visa the US could she??? :o

See also Application for a Permanent Resident Card (PR Card), Guide, Overview:

To be eligible for a PR Card, you must:

* be a permanent resident of Canada;

* be physically present in Canada;

* not be under an effective removal order; and

* not be a Canadian citizen or a registered Indian under the Indian Act.

If you are outside Canada and you do not have a valid PR Card to return to Canada, you will need to obtain a travel document from a Canadian visa office. An application kit is available on-line. Once you are in Canada, you should apply for a PR Card.

and Leaving and re-entering Canada.

Sorry! Looking further in Family Class Immigration:

you can sponsor relatives or family members from abroad if they are:

* your spouse, common-law or conjugal partner 16 years of age or older;

Unfortunately, not sure if you have to wait for this to be processed (as per your original question) before you can travel to Canada again. :o Did your supporting documents for the pr application include passports? You should make sure that the pr application is not considered as abandoned if you make another TRV application.
