BANGKOK: -- The Samui car bomb attack probe is now almost coming to an end after the military and the police obtained evidence that could link the stolen car used in the car bomb attack with the politician.

Royal Thai Police commissioner Pol Gen Somyot Phumphanmuang said today that investigation by the military and the police have come to a common stand now that the bombing is politically motivated, while ruling out terrorism, and business conflict.

He said 6-7 people were involved, among them is a woman.

He said latest evidence that the military obtained confirmed the linkage between the bombers and the politician in the South.

However he said the police have not yet seek warrants from the court for the arrest of the gang pending more evidence to press charges on all of them.

He didn’t elaborate but earlier his assistant Pol Lt Gen Prawut Thavornsiri said latest evidence implicated the politician’s close aide to the car bombing.

According to information from the security officials, three cars were now involved.

One is a Honda Civic bearing Bangkok licence plate and a pickup truck bearing Chonburi licence plate , and the car bomb pickup truck.

Investigators traced video cameras along the highway paralleled to the southern coastal line from Singha’s Nakhon district to Surat Thani’s Don Sak ferry pier and became suspicious why the pickup truck spent six hours to travel just less than 300 kilometres.

Where the pickup truck stopped or went to on the way to Don Sak which should take not more than three hours, they said.

They also found the Honda Civic giving protection to the car bomb truck on the front while Chonburi pickup truck following behind.

Costas, long time ago you said it was waste of your time to read speculations about the Samui car bomb – wonder why you still read and comment...? blink.png

If they are not seeking warrants yet then they DO NOT have enough evidence. Just who are they trying to convince of what? They make such positive comments which such confidence and then you read a statement like this...

"...that could link the stolen car..."

"that could link" is a far cry from "definitely links". Either arrest the people or keep their mouths shut until they can arrest them.

If they have evidence the BIB should release the name and not play that cat and mouse game until no one is left in Thailand to face charges.

From my point. as it is Samui aka Koh Tao they have no ideas.

I do read in the BP that Suthep has a share in the Central mall and he did have a share as well in the cooperative in Surat Thani.

Politically motivated? Maybe.

Business motivated? Maybe too.

The Suthep clan controls half of Samui from hotels and resorts to shrimp farming with CP Group as his partner.

I wonder if Suthep paid back the loan already from the Islamic Bank of Thailand. Not sure how this guy could get over 300 million Baht in loans.

Then their is the story that Suthep owns the Bangkok Pacific Club for Elite members next to Nana. According to my sources (Indian Thais) on Sukhumvit he bought it during the time he led the protests in Bangkok last year. He held some of his fundraising at the club as well and some of my friends went to the Club to meet him in person.

This is reading like an Alfred Hitchcock novel.

Just catch the red shirts and get it over with.

No need to bother with evidence or proof or anything like that!

Just out of curiosity, how are you going to spin your way out of it if it turns out to be totally unconnected with the red shirts?

Yeah, yeah the evidence proved the driver killed Akeyuth as well!!!

If someone punched you in the face 20 times by a RS and then you put a blindfold on and you got punched in the face again…Who would you think did it. The PDRC!

I personally hope it was a one off and is not the red shirts as we do not need the reds rising again to unleash their brand of terror on the peaceful majority. But then I hoped the Bangkok bombing was a one off as well. I am sure I will hope the next red shirt bombing will be a one off as well and the next and the next….Until they destabilize confidence in the government.

They said it themselves that if the economy fails it will gel the previous opposing political parties to unite and oppose the govt. This came from Jatuporn, HRW and Crisis group. All entities linked to red shirt groups with jatuporn being the leader of the group.

I also remember the PDRC blowing themselves up just to strenuously deny the fact the reds did that as well.

Will history ever teach you...

"became suspicious why the pickup truck spent six hours to travel just less than 300 kilometres."
"Where the pickup truck stopped or went to on the way to Don Sak which should take not more than three hours, they said."

National speed limit is 90kph (with the exception of 2 highways) so at that speed limit it would take 3 hours 20 minutes without stopping for gas or slowing at villages/traffic lights etc. 6 hours (maybe 5+) sounds about right. I can't believe they would think these people would speed and break the law......Joking aside, surely the last thing they would want is to get stopped by plod for speeding or iffy driving.. That's if they really were the bombers of course

What a great statement from the National Police Chief. It’s somehow like the Pope would have said:

“More than 2000 years ago a woman, which name is withheld, gave birth to a guy who walked on water healed the sick and died on a cross, but it needs further investigation to reveal his name.”

Its rather difficult to decipher exactly what you mean in this rather incoherent stream of consciousness. Even making allowances for your blind hatred of any group which does not share your messianic obsession with right wing poitics, I can only conclude that you have lost the plot. Perhaps all those months of preaching to the inhabitants of khon Kaen (isnt it?) only to see them ignore you and follow their own minds have finally got to you. Any way, the plot left some time ago, heading in the opposite direction!

Are you sure your not Chris Lawrence in disguise. His inability to articulate an intelligent rebuttal due to the facts I presented caused him to denigrate to denouncing and belittling me as well.

That is so UDD.

So it took the pickup 6 hours to cover 300km. I've got one just like that!

Quite reasonable, an average speed of 50 kph. The investigators say that it should not have taken more than three hours so that would require an average speed of 100 kph which, to achieve, would require speeds of 120 to 140 much of the time. Since the national speed limit is 90 kph these investigators are suggesting that the vehicle should have been speeding, the sure fire way to draw the attention of the Highway Police.

I think the military and police have now given the suspects plenty of time to leave Thailand and hide much of their financial assets. But to play it safe I expect the military/police will wait another week or so to make any arrests---if there is anyone still left in country to arrest.

You are so off track. This is all so obvious and takes little brains to figure it out.
