Justice minister announces 6-month work results

BANGKOK, 23 April 2015 (NNT) – Minister of Justice General Paiboon Koomchaya has announced the 6-month work results of his ministry and the sacking of five officials who were implicated in graft.

Gen. Paiboon indicated on Wednesday that the Ministry of Justice had proceeded to implement policies that included reduction of disparity, rehabilitation of wrongdoers, suppression of narcotics, suppression and prevention of corruption, and the suppression and prevention of special crimes.

According to Gen. Paiboon, the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) has been established and a rehabilitation fund set up.

Five Ministry of Justice officials who were found guilty of severe wrongdoing have been fired from the civil service. The officials worked for the Department of Corrections and the Department of Special Investigation.

The justice minister noted that the firing was a disciplinary action, and any handing-down of punishment for criminal activity would be made by the court.

According to Gen. Paiboon, the Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) has been established and a rehabilitation fund set up.

Does that mean those who are sacked are compensated by a fund to off-set the amount of graft income they will lose until natural retirement age? Yeah I'm sure this will scare the living crap out of any corruption official.
