Online video service Hooq to launch in Thailand in May

While we are still waiting for Netflix to launch right across Southeast Asia, there are many other companies that are getting in on the action beforehand. One such service, Hooq, is an Internet-based video streaming and download service run by Singaporean mobile operator Singtel, in conjunction with Sony Pictures and Warner Bros. The new service offers unlimited streaming and downloading for a subscription, and aims to launch in Thailand next month.

Thai viewers will be able to sign up and watch local films and TV programmes thanks to deals with various Thai-based studios – such as GTH, Five Star, TIGA and more. The service claims it will offer more than 10,000 films and TV programmes from the US too, mainly from companies such as Disney, Sony, Warner Bros and Dreamworks.
