Clinton: Nation needs to fix broken immigration system

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton said Tuesday that any immigration overhaul must include a path to "full and equal citizenship," drawing a sharp contrast with Republicans who have promoted providing a legal status or blocked efforts in Congress to address the nation's immigration system.

Bangkok:- A motorcycle-taxi driver in Bangkok has become famous in recent years not for anything related to his rides – but for his English fluency.


Dejchart Puangket, 43, looks like any other men at motorcycle-taxi stands until he starts speaking the foreign language. And he is self taught.

Thai rice to be promoted at big food events worldwide

BANGKOK, 6 May 2015 (NNT) - The Department of International Trade Promotion is urgently promoting Thai rice through various channels with plans to bring the produce to international food festivals abroad.


Director-General of the Department of International Trade Promotion Nanthawan Sakuntanak said the department had launched a campaign to promote Thai rice and rice products which were among the department's "Champion Products" project. Rice and rice products would be advertised through popular media such as TV, magazines and billboards, the official said.

Ms. Nanthawan added the department would also arrange activities to boost the image of Thai rice in international markets. Scheduled for the rest of this year, the activities include promotion of Thai rice at food fairs in major cities such as New York, Milan and Frankfurt. As for China, the department has planned to organize Thai rice events in Kwang Chao and Kunming with cooking demonstrations of Thai rice recipes by famous Thai actors.

Mae Rim residents cry foul over landfill

Chiang Mai:- Residents of a village in Chiang Mai’s Mae Rim district cried foul that a tycoon has been illegally operating a landfill in their neighborhood.


Residents of Ban Hong Nok in Tambon Mae Ram filed a complaint with Thairath that the tycoon has been using his own land as a garbage landfill, causing bad smell and affecting the environment.

BMA develops bike lanes on Saensaeb Canal

Bangkok:- The Bangkok Metropolitan is developing the existing walk paths along Klong Saensaeb into safe bike lanes, BMA city clerk Sanya Chinimitr said.


Sanya said the project is aimed at developing 13-kilometer-long bike lanes on both sides of the canal so that Bangkok residents can use the lanes for recreational riding and travelling.

Thai couple found dumped in Krabi forest

KRABI: -- The bodies of a Thai man and woman were found in the Hoy Namkhow forest near the Khow Pra Bang Khram Wildlife Sanctuary in Klongtom Krabi on Monday (May 4). Police believe they were murdered and then dumped.

Man charged for raping two girls, aged 8 and 4

Bangkok: – Natthawat Chamwaree, 33, is in the police’s custody facing statutory rape charges for sexually violating eight-year-old and four-year-old girls.


The case came to light after the father of the two girls had sought and received legal advice from Paveena Hongsakul Foundation.

Thailand confident to win export quota of 200,000 tons of rice to the Philippines

Labor Minister not committed to new wage demand, citing impacts on SMEs

Royal Thai Air Force sending two aircraft to Nepal today

BANGKOK, 6 May 2015 (NNT)-The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has advised the public that the Royal Thai Air Force is sending two aircraft to Nepal today to deliver another batch of emergency supplies from Thailand.


According to the MFA, no additional Thai citizens have so far requested the MFA’s assistance via the Thai embassy in Kathmandu, for their return to the Kingdom.

The Ministry of Public Health will also send a second team of medical personnel to Nepal this Friday to help quake survivors who need medical attention.

They will replace the first team which is currently stationed at a makeshift hospital in Sipaghat. The second group will ensure patients’ personal hygiene as well as the well-being of their mental health, while helping the country restore its health care system.

Unique 150-km mountain trail run in North banned

CHIANG MAI: -- The Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation says it will not allow the holding of the 150 kilometres long ultra trail run from Doi Suthep in Chiang Mai to Doi Luang Chiang Dao because the trail run passes its wildlife sanctuaries where there are many species of protected wildlife, and rare plants.

Five-year-old boy dies in crash on famous Phuket bridge

PHUKET: -- A five-year-old boy died instantly and a 16-year-old boy was injured yesterday (May 5) when the motorcycle they were riding on crashed into a parked SUV on Sarasin Bridge.
