Hat Chao Mai National Park’s annual closure to begin June 1

TRANG, 17 May 2015 (NNT) – The Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation has announced a temporary closure of Hat Chao Mai National Park to enable the park to take a breather.

The four-month closure takes place every year between June 1 and September 30. During this period, visitors will be barred from entering islands belonging to the park such as Koh Mook, Morakot Cave, Koh Kradan, Koh Chueak and Koh Waen.

The ban is aimed at allowing the park to recuperate from influxes of tourists and to ensure safety for visitors since the monsoon season is normally present between June and September. The park will re-open on October 1.

Hat Chao Mai National Park is located on the western coast of southern Thailand. The park covers land and sea areas of 230 square kilometers. It is one of the most popular tourist spots of Trang province thanks to its unspoiled natural beauty.
