Police oppose bail for KMITL case suspect

BANGKOK: -- Police yesterday brought Kittisak Matthujad, a key suspect in the King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Lat Krabang (KMITL) embezzlement case, to Min Buri Court in Bangkok seeking approval for an initial 12 days in custody until June 3.

Police objected to him getting bail on grounds that he was a flight risk and could tamper with evidence. And there was also no one to offer bail surety yesterday.

The 30-year-old suspect, who is facing charges of conspiring to rob, forgery and use of forged official documents, and supporting theft by state officials, has claimed innocence.

In March, public prosecutors had filed a lawsuit against former KMITL rector Thawil Puengma, 61; former bank manager Songklod Sriprasong, 40; former KMITL finance division head Amporn Noisamrit, 56; and 11 others. The Min Buri Court will hear the case on June 22.

Guess your chances of bail are pretty slim if bail money is not available,

Finally some sensible thinking. Its a rarity. Hoping he doesn't manage ro slip away somehow now.....

He will be exonerated if anyone too high up the food chain is involved. He will be jailed if he has no hiogher connections.

Thai Justice, as always, served with lime and a twist of Thainess, shaken, not strirred.

"...Police objected to him getting bail on grounds that he was a flight risk and could tamper with evidence..."

But you give bail to murderers all the time...why not me?
