Two more human trafficking suspects turn in to police

SONGKHLA: -- Two more wanted suspects in the case involving Rohingya human trafficking operations have turned themselves in to authorities yesterday in Songkhla.

The first is Din Hemmant, believed to be associated with the Sadao district Rohingya human trafficking operations led by Banjong Pongphon otherwise known as ‘Ko Jong’ who is the Padang Besar mayor.

The second suspect is Mahd Saad Jaidee who is believed to be connected to the Satun province human trafficking operation led by Pajuban Angchotiphan otherwise known as ‘Ko Toang’.

Both men turned themselves to police officers at the Nine Region Police Force in Hat Yai district of Songhkla Province.

They were charged with human trafficking, accommodating illegal entry into the country by foreign nationals, illegally detaining and imprisoning individuals without freewill and finally coercion but both denied the charges.

Up to the present, only 48 wanted persons connected to Rohinya human trafficking have been arrested out of a total of 77.

The remaining 29 are still at large.

Meanwhile the commissioner of the Royal Thai Police revealed that investigations have uncovered that the human trafficking operations were massive with extensive branches.

Pol Gen Somyot Pumpanmuang, the commissioner of the Royal Thai Police, was commenting on the latest discovery of another Rohinya graveyard in Malaysia located just 50 metres from the Thai border that this strongly indicated that Thailand was being used as a transit country.

Rohinya migrants were being landed here to be temporarily held while awaiting transport to third countries, he said.

Police from both Malaysia and Thailand are now in close coordination and are making available information on human trafficking operations to each other in a concerted effort to tackle the problem, he said.

Also, increased patrols by personnel from both countries along its borders have been agreed upon because of the extensive spread of the human trafficking operations that were using Thailand to transit migrants to Malaysia and other countries, he added.

No one will be proved guilty in Thai courts if they are involved in illegal migrant trade. Police and lawyers will not show any sincere attention to prosecute them in court. Only money works in Thailand, nothing else. Probably we can say humanity is died in the south of Thailand(And in Malaysia too) for the money! Because entire villages are involved in this gruesome slavery trade and no one know how many are trapped, tortured and killed there.

I would be nice to see some real action by the ICC, maybe that would deter people, cause we all pretty well know what's going to happen here with legal action.

Quote: The United Nations has been primarily responsible for the prosecution of crimes against humanity since it was chartered in 1948
