Anyone remember Ant Robertson? is the spotlight club still going?

Spotlight is only a shadow of its former self.

Last time I went there was 1997 and it was rubbish then, girls with stars pasted on their tits bah.gif

...those weren't stars pasted on their tits....... that was her belt

Gosh all well before my time, but lovely to hear people reminiscing of the Past...YES LIFE DOES GO PAST QUICKLY , ENJOY IT BEFORE IT ENDS..

Nice to read this post and all its replies. It is one of the kindest gentlest non mudslinging posts I have had the pleasure to come across. Yes the years pass fast enjoy them. I hit the 77 mark this week. I try to keep in touch with old friends as much as I can. Must be reaching the reminiscing stage.

Anybody knows what has become of "Porn" who first used to work at Somsri Massage at Moon Meuang Rd.?

She was from Mae Hong Son and lost her young son, who was tragically electrocuted, at least that's what I've heard.

I guess this happened about 15 years ago.

Yes, Bill was a grumpy guy, but I liked him. He is the one who died of cancer (at McKean?). His wife married a Brit and they reopened the Escape down near John's Place/Cozy Corner and it lasted a few years. I think it closed somewhat recently.

I'm pretty sure that Abe has passed on.

Not the same soi, but not too far away. All the way over by Las Vegas - one of Chiang Mai's first Go-Go Bars and known for mostly hideous women. I remember they had an albino dancer. She was very popular with the Thais, because of her white skin.

Steve, I think you are talking about. He left the bar in his wife's charge when he went to Australia to work in the mining industry. It lasted until he reached the end of the soi.

He was back in Chiang Mai last week and is now working in Korea. He says the last thing he intends to do when he eventually moves back to Thailand is open a bar.

Wisdom comes with experience.

Any one have an update on Maury P the Aussie wheat farmer who shared beers at the Karen Hut? Heard he moved to Wiang PaPao or near there with Molly,

I think it was. Prince of a man.

NaiGreg re Yoshi and Bua...... If ever there was a couple that might be framed as the odd couple.... it certainly would have been Yoshi & Bua....

Yoshi literally lived his live as if it were a movie script, would probably be the best way I could put it. Bua , unfortunately passed away a few years back, cancer I believe. the last I heard re Yoshi was that he [ by someone official] was told not to come back to CM. Have completely lost touch with him now. The stories re those two are endless..... I do hope that both their spirits are at rest wherever they are and I have to say my life has been fuller for having known them

G

PS one of the best Yoshi tales was the time after having a serious discussion {mildly put} with Bua, Yoshi proceeded to drive his vehicle right through the front of the VooDoo Lounge ..... When the police got there Yoshi told them he was putting in a garage door. ! ! ! ??????

Ultimately he sold it to a guy, American I think named Bill, who had it for a while.

Yes, Bill was grumpy guy, but I liked him. He is the one who died of cancer (at McKean?). His wife married a Brit and they reopened the Escape down near John's Place/Cozy Corner and it lasted a few years. I think it closed somewhat recently.

At one stage didn't the Escape used to be down the soi that now has the Salad Concept at the top (off the moat). ?Lots of guesthouses down there now. (Off Chaiyaphum Rd)

Not the same soi, but not too far away. All the way over by Las Vegas - one of Chiang Mai;s first Go-Go Bars and known for mostly hideous women.

I liked Cozy Corner.

Sang Som set 150 baht - Johns 20% discount card (which I still have).

Order outside and take it inside wink.png

Sufficiently dark and sleazy inside to keep you interested, seemed to have a lot of Lisu girls.

I still have my card as well, carry it in my wallet, love the expiry date....."forever".

Gonzo, we've got to meet some day.

Sorry to hear about Bua. Is her daughter still in town?

Yoshi was the first person I met in Chiang Mai. I must have looked lost (I was) and he stopped to offer a private tour of the neighborhood. The tour lasted for weeks, at least 200 bottles of beer and countless shots. Yes, Yoshi and Bua did not mind airing their grievances loudly in the middle of the bar. I remember inspecting the famous car parking damage the following morning. He liked to get the last word! Here is a happy pic of them from New Years Eve 1999 just outside the Voodoo lounge.

Where did all the years go?

Times change so quickly here. Couldn't imagine 16 years go, folk asking me where the best smoked salmon buffet was or where to buy lime scale remover coffee1.gif

Yes, "want" pollution has arrived.
Can't disagree with that. 4 of the 5 top-of-list topics right now are food lol. But what were u oletimers discussing back then...?

Sexual escapades and wishing that McDonald's and Pizza Hut would come to Chiang Mai - even the Brits!
