Looking for advice about re-marrying. In this case I was married and divorced to a Thai woman before and am about to marry again, to a Thai woman.

I Married in 1991, to a Thai woman, she was granted a spouse visa and moved to England where we had one son. We were divorced in 1998, she still lives in England where she manages a Thai restaurant.

I have been working as a school administrator at an International school in Thailand for seven years. In January I plan to return to my old job in England.

I am planning to marry again to a Thai woman and will be applying for a spouse visa for her to come to England with me.

I looked at the British Embassy website and also the Immigration Advisory Service (IAS) website. The information about eligibility is largely the same. However the info on the IAS website contains a condition not listed on the info on the Embassy website, that is;

........A spouse application is only possible where:...................... at no time any other spouse of the sponsor has lived or entered the UK as the sponsor's spouse (subject to certain exceptions)

This would seem to preclude me from applying for spouse visa for my second wife.

If anybody has any experience or advice about this, I would appreciate their comments.Thanks.

I suspect that they may be refering to Polygamous and potentially polygamous marriages.

Note also:

Termination of previous marriage

Even where it is suspected that a divorce of convenience has taken place and that a man, for example, is continuing to live with a previous wife, entry clearance cannot be withheld from a second wife, even if a polygamous household will be created as a result.

Vinny is correct; i.e. you can't be greedy, and can only have one wife at a time.

I would provide as much evidence of your relationship as possible. The embassy might consider that you have already married and divorced one Thai national as being indicative of a lack of intention to live together permanently in relation to your new marriage.

Scouse.
