From the list in the OP that's just about every single service from Kasikorn.

So basically all Kasikorn customers are with out any banking services for a whole weekend. Even ATM withdrawals and in store card payments.

Amazing!

It must be a pretty critical update to take all their banking services offline for such a period of time.

I used to work for RBS in the UK and any major updates to the system that affected multiple departments were usually staggered and never offline for that length time.

Updates by RBS were normally made from 11pm on Sunday evening to 5am on a Monday morning, traditionally the quietest times for customers using banking services.

Still, this is Thailand so I know better than to try and even contemplate understanding what might be going on here.

Is there a problem with Thailand's banks computer systems at the moment - SCB had big problem a few days ago and were down for several hours.

I did notice a sign on the tills at Tops Central Pattaya yesterday saying they no longer would accept KBank credit/Debit cards due to computer issues.

whistling.gif The list of Thai holidays for 2015 also lists the following:

1 July (Wednesday) Mid-Year Bank Holiday (Auditing)

I suspect therefore, that all Thai Banks will not operate on 1 July

And for Americans don't forget that the 4th of July, Independence Day Is a major U.S holiday....so expect all U.S. Banks to be closed for a long weekend holiday then. Possibly from the 3rd of July to the 6th

Plan ahead.

Amazing Thailand rolleyes.gif

Sure is.....they were able to inform their customers well in advance about this. Back home, about 3 years ago, we had a bank that was out of operation for almost 2 weeks with no advance warning. They said it was due to a computer malfunction, seeming an employee made an incorrect entry and the whole system went down. It took them all that time to correct it.

Contacted K Bank call centre & confirmed above item, no intent to contact customers other than posting to website.

Pretty poor service from one of the major Thai banks!!

Will there be a formal advice to all customers, yeh, sure when you try to use your card or front a branch on those days.... you'll find out!!

Don't worry it's not so drastic. Just ensure you have sufficient cash reserves for the weekend, Accept other electronic services are suspended for 2 days and the only other facility available to customers is Kasikorn credit cards.

The upgrades are likely to improve derives for customers and will be of benefit in the long term. Doubtless continuous reminders will be forthcoming across various media platforms.

In the real world I would tend to agree with you.

However, the reliability and pedigree of their software is likely to be somewhat circumspect.

I have a vision of them updating all their software and when the IT Manager tells Somchai to flick the switch to turn it all back on again, all they see on their screens is.....

What's going on, maybe I can help. The powers that be, in Thailand, are doing the best they can. What are you doing to help? Bank is closed for two days. Not life threatening or apocalyptic. just brings out the malcontents and their comments. ...lets the bigots speak. Thank you, TV.

The last time they turned their system off, a year or so ago, it over ran and didn't come back online until the Monday late afternoon.

Again their was limited warning, and no noticeable improvement in their systems.

any improvements in your system.

Land of stupidity!

Could you imagine for a second if any bank in any western country suspended their ATM's for a weekend? Even for a day? OMFG!

Previous reply tells you a worse example has already occurred in the west.

The warning will be in all the Thai press (including the TV) which will inform 99,99% of their clients about the shutdown (The closure will also be displayed on the ATM's beforehand). The 0,001% of their clients (the non-Thai speaking clients) have just now been informed via TV. How do you think they must contact their millions of clients ? Do you expect a call from the CEO ?

They seem quite capable of keeping me personally informed with SMSs about the latest offer at tops, Black Canyon and SF Cinema using their card - clearly that is only for vital communications.
