September 14, 200619 yr I want to fly tomorrow to Koh Chang from BKK but my passport is in the embassy for renewal, will it be needed or can I use the receipt for my passport from the embassy?
September 15, 200619 yr Me too. I would just make sure you take the receipt from the embassy just in case. Shouldn't have any problems though.
September 15, 200619 yr Unfortunately, it is my understanding they are not supposed to let you fly without the passport. I wouldn't try it. Things are changing these days.
September 15, 200619 yr You may have noticed in the 'fuss' about the VOA that all the official notices quote Passport or alternative document. If you have the receipt for your passport renewal from the embassy that is an "alternative document" and so is valid. I would however take some 'Photo" ID with you ie driving licence, just in case.
September 15, 200619 yr Author Thanks for you thoughts, I don't have a driving licence though And I don't have any other form of photo ID Has anybody travelled domestically without their passport before?
September 15, 200619 yr If you don't have any photo ID why not call the airline office and explain your situation and ask if they can accept your passport receipt as ID.
September 15, 200619 yr It's not the airline, it's the Airport security folks that checks for ID's before/after the hand luggage scanning.
