Leicester City orgy trio sacked: Kick It Out chairman Lord Ouseley praises Foxes' "positive action"
BY HAMISH MACKAY

LEICESTER: -- Tom Hopper, Adam Smith and James Pearson were seen laughing as they verbally abused three Thai women, while having sex with them in a hotel room.

The chairman of equality charity Kick It Out has praised Leicester City for sacking the three players who filmed themselves taking part in an orgy in which they verbally abused three prostitutes.

Tom Hopper, Adam Smith and James Pearson were seen laughing as they verbally abused three Thai women, while having sex with them in a hotel room during the club's end of season tour.

The trio then shared the video - in which one of the players can be heard racially abusing one of the women, calling her "slit eye" - with friends back in the UK.

Following an internal investigation into the matter, Leicester terminated the contracts of all three players - a move that has drawn praise from Kick It Out chair Lord Ouseley.

Leicester fires 3 players over sex tape in Thailand

LONDON — English Premier League club Leicester fired three players on Wednesday over a video showing them in an apparent orgy with Thai sex workers, one of whom was racially abused.

Manager Nigel Pearson's son James, Adam Smith and Tom Hopper had their contracts terminated on Wednesday after the team's investigation concluded into the incident on a post-season tour of Thailand.

Disgusting. Why on earth should they lose their livelihoods because of something they did in their own time which had nothing to do with their ability to do their job? They can still kick a ball just as well as they did before.

(BTW, I'm not condoning their behaviour at all, which was also disgusting.)

Leicester sack three players over racist orgy on Thailand tour
• Manager Nigel Pearson’s son, James, one of three dismissed
• Other two players are Tom Hopper and Adam Smith
Nick Ames

Leicester City have sacked the three footballers who had been accused of taking part in a racist sex film on a post-season tour to Thailand – including James Pearson, the son of the club’s manager, Nigel Pearson.

The club have announced that they have terminated the contracts of Pearson Jr, Tom Hopper and Adam Smith after an investigation into allegations that the players had racially abused and made other offensive comments to women with whom they were engaging in sex acts in a Thai hotel room.

A statement read: “Leicester City Football Club has notified Tom Hopper, Adam Smith and James Pearson that their contracts with the club have been terminated.

“The decision follows the conclusion of an internal investigation and disciplinary proceedings, as a consequence of events that took place during the club’s end-of-season goodwill tour of Thailand.

Yeah, I've always questioned this sort of reaction by sports clubs. It happens to rugby players too. "Bringing the sport into disrepute" is often what's cited.

I think there may be more in it than just one guy saying "slit eye". One guy said it, so why all 3 sacked?

More than the silly racism, I was disturbed by the chap that said "lick it...I SAID LICK IT!!". He sounded quite....more than just domineering, ...almost on the verge of violence. Threatening. And him repeating the order in such a threatening voice, suggests she didn't want to "lick it"...he was forcing her:

I think there was more than just a dumb word that has led to their sacking.

Contracts which rely on sponsorships and the promotion of a company's brand/image typically contain a clause which requires the employee to refrain from behaviour and activities which damage the company and/or brand image. Keep in mind that the employee is being paid to promote the brand. In this case, the football team sells advertising and promotes third party products, in addition to providing entertainment when the grown men kick a ball on a fooball pitch. Poor behaviour on the part of the employee can alienate customers, some of whom might boycott the team, and it can cause the team to lose advertisers and media partners.

I am going to plagiarize/paraphrase Billy Baaki here:

This is a sample clause from the union's collective agreement for a US sports team:

if Player has engaged in personal conduct reasonably judged by Club to adversely affect or reflect on Club, then Club may terminate this contract.”

Sports leagues also have Player Personal Conduct Policies that give the league commissioner's office the authority to discipline teams and their personnel for bad behaviour.

Advertising and endorsement contracts also typically include a “morals clause” which may be less broad than is found in the typical playing contract, to the extent negotiated and agreed upon by the parties. The enforceability of such clauses turns on the scope of the contractual language as applied to the conduct at issue. A carefully drafted contractual “moral clause” has become an ever-increasing necessity for corporations—as well as leagues and teams—who invest substantial sums in both the performance and reputation of players whose conduct away from the field of play has significant economic impact. Accordingly, the implications of a player’s off-field immoral and illegal conduct on his earning power can be far-reaching and swift.

Because a lot of football fans are children, who don't see these people as ball-kickers but as actual Role Models. Children are sponge-like and absorb information much more than adults, and they will absorb the behaviour of these footballers and the consequences too. If the footballers were allowed to behave in this manner without repercussion, children will take this as a green light to behave the same way in future.

Yes indeed, they deserve a kick in their balls. So they just should have been given a scolding?

As punishment, they make a lot of money stand in public view.. so if you damage your clubs reputation you get sacked.

Why would that disturb you? You have never been dominate in a ex before? Telling a girl to do that is not bad. Being dominate in sex is not my forte but I don't look down on it the way you do.

The question is why they got sacked? Just saying slit eye doesn't during sex doesn't seem like a valid reason. Although I didn't watch the vdo I don't see why all 3 would be sacked as well. Their futures gone for comments made during a sex orgy.

Maybe you have not been to a sex orgy before. But verbal abuse is common for both sexes to do. Passive and dominance is also common! It is not like you are making love to a woman you met and like.

Their comments should have been taken lightly to say the least simply because of he circumstances.

sounds like the english licking the ar$e of the thais, just like they did with the kao toa murders, poor young players, over prostitutes! prostitutes are not immoral are they

Although the women in the video were clearly sex workers I fail to understand ANYONE who could condone their behaviour! Would they do this in Prague, in Amsterdam.

What we have here is School boy's with politicians wages!

One thing I find surprising is that the reason given for sacking them is stated as being the verbal (racist) abuse of the women. Of course that is wrong but even if they said nothing, what about the way they treated the women and then were stupid (insensitive) enough to post videos online?

Morons like this don't deserve to be in any position where they can be looked upon as role models. Good riddance and I hope that they never again play in a Premiership club !!!

Because they are professional football players and their employment comes with an expected code of conduct.

They are held in great esteem by impressionable young fans who idolise them and their team.

Being so stupid as to 'share' their behaviour, thinking it is 'admirable' in some way means they are unsuitable.

As if a money profiting business (such as a football team) gives two-hoots about families and children!!!! honestly,, dont be so naive .

this is PURELY because of sponsorship and fear of losing their sponsorship money next season. THATS ALL. NOTHING MORE>

their Sponsorer is KING POWER (Thailand).. so you can imagine the Pressure and Embarrassment.

seriously this is nothing to do with kids and image and families.

its 100% about keeping their King power Sponsorship.

Personally, I always thought it was stupid how MPs and sports people resign coz of activities they do OUTSIDE of their work.

if a politician is a pervert,, how does that affect his job ?

The main reason for their sacking was that they were just second string players.

.

Who now are headed back to the trailer park , they came from!!

Nope. The players damaged the team brand and brought embarrassment down on the management, owners and many of the players.

When you pay the salaries you can set the policy and encourage 3 numpties to destroy your investment.

I don't agree with racism, but Thailand should be one of the last to complain about this, as they are themselves a very racist population.

Two wrongs don't make a right...................
