Step One Accomplished

Thanks to everyone who helped out but my girlfriend got her 3mth tourist visa successfully and has been here with me in NZ for one week now. It was completely out of the blue and quite unexpected as we had the usual doubts regards no reason to return etc but there u go - i guess we said the right things!!!

Anyway now that she is here it leads us on to the next step which, of course, is how can we keep her here longer and, if possible, upgrade her visa to include a work permit. looking at the embassy website it seems she would have to show that she has been supporting herself and could continue to do so for the period of the extension if it were so granted. So i dont know how possible it is but my first thoughts are surely the cards are in our hands considering she is in NZ already! But my 2nd thoughts are - when can we ever have the upper hand over an embassy!!! If anyone has any experience of this or some thoughts i would love to hear from you.
