Your not a troll are you ?

This is just not done much inside Bangkok, the gated community where I live i see plenty of people without t shirts but they would not go into the 711 or other shops. In Bangkok itself I never seen this and not wearing shoes .. you really mean barefoot ?

I know that you would get funny looks back in the Netherlands too. (maybe not on the real hot days)

Fine example of the best of the worst.

Going both shirtless and shoe less is certainly not a respected behavior pattern.

In fact going shirtless in Bangkok is an offence, going shoe less ( unless a you are a monk) denotes a very low class person.

Might do well to check the Thai meaning of the first part of your posting name Kee

Would agree with the troll call. If the OP can make up a pathetic username like that, then he will know the expectations of dress code.

actually dresscode varys from place too place and ive seen multi millionaire (baht) queenslanders in dirty pants no shirt no shoes stayin in nice hotels .

so who looks down on who ? the peasant living on fish and rice with a clean shirt or the super rich dirty looking foreigner?

the peasant looks down on the rich guy who is too ignorant or too rude to respect local behavioral customs

Your post seems to indicate your an Aussie, so being a member of the criminal classes, your lack of attire makes perfect sense

No wonder you got the evil eye, did you not read anything about Thailand before you came here? You should have learned about Thai

culture, then maybe you would have known to respect Thailand and it's people.

No more going out without your shirt on, though it's OK on the beach.

ive heard of rich scandanavians dressing in bare feet and dirty shirts as a distraction but are actually well of back home and living off a healthy 150000 baht per month norwegian pension.

The vikings are hardly known to be a classy bunch either, drunk all the time, falling in bushes, losing their shoes, (that's why they are in their bare feet)

You really need to start dressing like a respectable farang in Thailand, and TV's resident cultural experts advise the following as acceptable attire

1. Chang wife beater, preferably washed in the last two weeks

2. Walking shorts

3 White socks

4 Sandal's (AKA desert Wellies)

5. Very big Buddha medallion

For attending immigration

1. Freshly pressed polo shirt, or silly checked short sleeved shirt

2. Walking shorts

3. white socks

4. Freshly polished patent leather dress shoes

5. Best Buddha medallion

You are obviously not a native English speaker, nothing wrong with that, but I have a problem understanding the last part of your sentence.

All I can do is remind you that it is a big NO NO, going about shirtless.

By the fact you need to ask such a question shows the class of person you are sorry whistling.gif

Obviously, you are a poor man.

Go to the Salvation Army or local wat for assistance is my suggestion.
