It's Sunday. Besides I need a break now & then from reading things such as the Supreme Court ruling 3 days ago in the US on Obama's Affordable Care Act:

http://www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/14pdf/14-114_qol1.pdf

C'mon you post also Monday's,Tuesday's,Wednesday....
You're right but today is Sunday so some things are not as active as during the week. The UN Geneva goes into session tomorrow so I will be monitoring the stream broadcast for the next week or so. The EU Parliament convenes July 9 in Strasbourg. So what do you with your time? ThaiVisa provides a bit of a diversion for that kinda stuff.

I know Sunday is pretty dull( hence this topic)...btw what do you think is Greek finally out???

I dont think so,

If Greece was allowed to exit, it will telegraph the fact that the EU is not permanent, and if there is one thing that markets don't like, is Uncertainty. If we look at history , no state was ever allowed to leave a Union, with out that Union denigrating.

at the very worst I think they will negotiate a special arrangement until they get there ship in order.

I think Greece is engaging in a game of brinkmanship , to get the best possible deal. Unless their economy is not grown, their debt is unsustainable, and Austerity does not provide for an internal stimulus for growth. If austerity is implemented, stimulus has to be external.

On the other hand the EU has to be very careful on the number of concessions toward Greece, hence there is a stampede for other countries to renegotiate there position. A difficult situation to say the least.

Well said...but as a stated before I like sarcasm...the last ship they got in order has been the Costa Concordia...

and the Costa Concordia needed external stimulus to be re-floated after it's skipper, run it in to the rockstongue.png

I (nearly) only reply to posts spreading false, ultra negative, surrealistic, or totally misleading information about Thailand Elite... And I do that for the sole reason that I reaaaaally don't like these types of posts being left unchallenged.

I guess other people do the same for other topics.

To everyone his speciality ;)

But I must say that my main reason for me to drop by this forum is to get the English news.

By reading the news on TV, I have the (false) feeling that I don't sponsor The Nation by clicking on their website link ;)

Also, Thaivisa is a successful business (in a way, and proportionally), so, each visit helps the owners.

Being a pro-entrepreneurship, I am happy that my visits (and posts) contribute to their success.

I see...you also like sarcasm...

I do :D

But it is not always understood as such...

During the 18th century the mentally ill were not regarded as 'truly' human. It was thought that they did not have human feelings. They were therefore confined in chains. People paid to visit asylums and see the insane as if they were animals in a zoo. Since that is not politically correct anymore I come to Thai Visa.smile.png

Many TV topics oblige me to think. By the time I have written my stuff and re-edited it a few times I feel as though I have sorted things out for myself, what other people feel about it is more or less secondary. I took about a week to write my world renowned piece on dog ticks and it helped me feel that that was about as far as I could go. I learned something from the responses I got also.

Many people just dash out their frustrations with life in general, blaming Thailand as they go.

I guess I have done this on occasion also but the initial daily frustrations of every day life here seem like a joke now, apart from acts of violence that I have witnessed.

A reply so witty, if I might say so my self, it merits posting twice.laugh.png

edited to justify double post and shaky posting fingertongue.png

I post because I consider myself an educationalist. Whenever I can I like to point out the absurdity of owning/interacting with dogs in Thailand. I get a real kick out of replying to the indignant responses from such dog-owners as they try to defend the indefensible.

I read Thaivisa every day: it is a source of news, views, humour and assistance.

Sorry pggraham forgot you to add...always positive about our live here

Btw need the grammar police...

when to use live and when life???

Live is a verb so you have to be doing it and it is often combined with other words, live by, live on, live for, etc. Life is a noun so you can talk about it.
Always positive about life here or always positive about our lives here, either one would work. You could perhaps use our life if talking about a unit like husband and wife but it doesn’t sound right with a large diverse group like foreigners in general.

I initially came here to seek advice and wisdom from the educated. Much like your local library.

Then I figured it was a place for objective discussion. Much like your local debating club.

Now I come here purely for entertainment. Much like your local side-show alley.

Coincidentally I have met a few like-minded folk along the way.

Why? I really don’t know. Not that I haven’t been asked that question many times over the years. I suppose I may have had answers in the past that made sense at the time.

In the beginning I had read about forums but thought the best way to learn was to join one. That was around the time I moved to Chiang Rai after 30 years in Bangkok. I was trying out a lot of new things during that time, like building a house, writing a blog, social media, photography, mountain bikes, motorcycles, dogs and an assortment of things that hadn’t been on the agenda while living in a condo in Bangkok or traveling.
There was a time a couple of years ago when some members in the Chiang Rai forum were trying to get rid of me and I stuck around out of obstinacy. I wasn’t about to let the trolls and cyberbullies get their way. Now they are gone and I am still here but I am not sure why.
It is not like I don’t have alternative online outlets, so maybe it is just habit at this point. Maybe I like watching as some individuals grow over time while others implode. Maybe it is akin to going to the zoo to be entertained by the sometimes bizarre behavior of the resident population.
I enjoy writing so maybe I just like the process of crafting comments for this forum. Whatever my reason today it is likely to change tomorrow.

I like posting on ThaiVisa because I don't have a view. In fact, since my main room window faces west, I bought an awning to block the sun in the afternoon and now I only have a view of the back of the awning.
