Driving To, And Meeting Folks At, That New Airport

Featured Replies

I'm supposed to picking up Thai wife and babby, from a place neither of us have ever been to. I've done a bit of 'map research' (roads and terminals etc) and stuff, but has anyone actually made the journey and found a good meeting place or any possible/probable slip ups?

I'll be getting on the expressway at Yommorat and haven't done much Bangkok driving!!

They land at 9pm on a Wednesday, any advice will be gratefully digested.

When you arrive at Terminal head for Car Parks in front of building, if Domestic go in first Car Park2 East if sign up (or the first one you come to) and if International enter Car Park 2 or West International farthest along the road. Note your car park number and space.

Take the bridge walk to level 3 go down to level 2 Arrivals and meet your loved ones at the Gates there 1 Domestic 2/3 are International. Arrival boards tell which flight is coming in and what gate. For the wife she will have to find Luggage after customs noting which conveyor it is on (there are 20+) then come out at arrivals exit 1 2 or 3.

This might help updated as we hear the news.

Airport guide

Did the trip yesterday and it was fine. Somehow it was 55klms and and hour from Rama 8 bridge and only 35 klms and 35 minutes back to Pinklao bridge! Driving speed and traffic were the same in both directions. It could be due to me taking the wrong expressway, but I don't know if I did or not. There were nice blue signs on the approach to Yommorat directing us to the expressway. However, once on it, there were two options; left for Bang Na, and right for somewhere else. I went left for Bang Na and soon found more blue signs all the way to the airport. Was this wrong? It seemed longer getting there than coming back and proved to be, too!
