Where to buy helmet w/Photochromic face shield?

Featured Replies

I don't know of any helmets sold with a photochromic shield- they're available separately for a few brands- Shoei and Bell photochromatic shields are sold at Revzilla (huge gear retailer in the U.S.) for example. Considering my own recent experience of sourcing a (standard clear) shield for my Shoei GT-Air, I would expect the shield to cost at least 5K (and likely more) if you're able to source one locally, based on their U.S. prices. There may be a couple of higher-end helmets that come with them, but they'll be pricey. The popularity of drop-down visors over the last couple of years has kept the sales and widespread use of trick shields down a bit, I would bet.

I got my shield at Helmet2Home (where it was 2500bt- in the States it would have been around 1500bt)- it might be worth stopping in and asking them if they can get you one.

research the YOHE 837....aliexpress.com....many color options on the shield....GOOD LUCK[emoji120]

I thought I read Recent article on Thai Visa where the police say any kind of tinting on a visor is illegal.

Yea, tinted shields are illegal in Thailand, just like helmets that meet DOT/Snell/ECE international safety standards are illegal if they don't also have a TIS stamp (meaning Shoei, Arai, HJC, AGV, Bell, etc cannot legally be worn in LOS- I've been wearing Shoeis here for 15 years and have never had a problem, though, but recently there have been more notifications as to possible fines). I get stopped at the occasional checkpoint, and I always flip up my tinted internal visor as I approach it- with a tinted external visor, you are indeed opening yourself up to a 500 baht fine (which is pretty silly as the reasoning behind the illegality of tinted visors is that criminals might use them to hide their identity rather than for any specific safety purpose).
