PHUKET: -- Construction of the long-awaited Chalong Hospital is expected to begin next year with a budget of B105 million, Phuket health officials have announced.

The four-floor building will be located on the plot of more than 10 rai behind Chalong police station, where the old fresh market once stood and including where the Chalong health centre is now.

The facility will provide 6,230 square metres of interior space for outpatient and inpatient services, Phuket Provincial Health Office (PPHO) chief Dr Kajornsak Kaewjarat said.

“The Chalong Hospital will take about two years to complete and will help to alleviate the workload on Vachira Hospital (in Phuket Town),” he added.

“Some equipment will come from Vachira and we hope to have at least 30 beds for inpatients.”

So this is the land right next to the circle ?

No increase in traffic jams at the circle then I guess for the two years its under condtruction.

I guess they delayed construction so this major project at the circle can be done at the same time as the new tunnel.

I'd hate to live south of there and need to get to the city or airport in a hurry in the next few years.

Only 30 beds, it's not going far to relieve congestion at the current hospital, nor provide for population numbers in the south going forward.
