Featured Replies

go to a street vendor and show them a pict of a quilt on your phone ( or tablet) and ask , odds are in your favor you will find out soon

they piece meal it out like tailors and dissappointment follows. my thai wife learned to quilt while onerseas and made the observation ''thai do not do good as they are after volume/money not pride in quality of work, design, etc i attribute it to a shorter attention span than is required bfor this type of work with good quality being a result. hurry hurry is norm and it shows in work quality every where you look

Do you want a Doona or Duvet ?

Didn't think it was cold enough in CNX...but yes, we bought one years ago at Robinson, Airport Plaza.

After years of being vaguely unsatisfied with bedding options in Thailand - garish colours, no plain coloured pillows and sheets, stuff sold in sets rather than individual packs, lack of reasonably priced duvets (aka continental quilts) - I decided this was another class of goods to self-import when returning from family visits to the UK.

Pity that Tesco Lotus don't import some of the stuff sold in Tesco UK (which they do for a few food and non-food items). Example prices from a recent visit (full kingsize 220x230):

4.5 tog plain duvet (fine for most-year round use - two together in the "depths" (?) of winter - £17 (ThB 825)

Covers for duvet (OK for this recent purchase I bought a set with a couple of pillows thrown in - £12 to £18 (ThB 600 to ThB 900)

Cheap serviceable pillows (half thickness and thin): I find one Thai pillow not enough and two together too much. £1.50 (ThB 75) [from Primark]

Cheap serviceable pillowcases (plain white - mostly used as liner pillowcases). £1.50 for two [from Primark]

OK - maybe no use to you now OP, but maybe you can find a friend who goes back to the UK for the future.

Duvets and pillows like the above have a double whammy - serve as good packing for fragile items in your checked luggage. I never travel without a couple of cheap Primark pillows thrown in nowadays. Much cheaper than buying those expensive specialist styrofoam packing materials!
