Learning Thai Language In Australia

Featured Replies

My girlfriend is Thai and we are going to travel to Thailand next year. It will be my first time to Thailand and I was just wanting some advise on what would be the best method of learning some of the language before I go. We do not get that much spare time with each other so the little time that we do get I do not want to use trying to learn Thai plus I want to surprise her by trying to learn it on my own. I know this topic has probably been covered before but I would appreciate any input.

Cheers

Where in Australia are you located?

Depending on where you are some Universities offer launguage courses that I believe (have heard can be quite good)

I believe the best way is to go down to a couple of local Thai restuarants and ask if they have anyone there that could spare a couple of hours a week. Organise a price and away you go. Alot of these restuarants have family of the owners who are studying English in Australia and they could always do with some extra cash.

Another way is to organise a language swap with them, maybe 1 hour of Thai and 1 hour of English. This way it is only time and no money needed.

I hope this helps

If you let me know your location I might be able to reccomend an institution.

Thanks In The Rai!

I am in Sydney. The courses sound good. I don't really feel comfortable with the thai restaurant option.

Cheers
