louse1953
Just checked online vs. my passbooks. No change at all. I am quite certain that there is a misunderstanding/lost in translation. Not by chance: your "old" account was a fixed deposit account that matured? And they routinely rolled it over to a new account (if you don't tell them to take the fingers off)? Did you get a new passbook for this new number? If so, you will have trouble at the immigration office if the new account does not fulfill the seasoning requirement. This happened to me.I spoke to immi, the bank wrote a letter confirming what happened.Mai pen rai.
supernovalava
The bank is offering its due diligence. FATCA is just the start. The bank needs to change the account number so it becomes a new account that is reportable to the IRS. The Global banking Rothchilds are getting ready. You know this for a fact or are you just speculating. I'm not even convinced yet that SCB is changing all account numbers. I hope not ... but wouldn't there be a press release about this? Popular Post Dmaxdan
Thanks for everyone's input.Actually BritTim in post #9 was correct. The original SCB branch that I opened the account with has closed and everything transferred to a new branch. So only people who opened an account where I did would be affected. So I do apologise to anyone who was franticly checking their account numbers!!!! The bank has given me a letter explaining the situation, which includes both the old and account new numbers. I have now passed this on to immigration (keeping a copy for myself). They seem to be happy enough with it, and it will be filed with the rest of my paperwork. So, fingers crossed there should be no problems with my marriage extension......

KhunBENQ
What I suspected as "merging branches" (similar to BritTim before). If there will be a big renumbering effort/task in the future we will hear about through many channels.
