PHUKET: Police are on the lookout for a man wanted for slashing the throat of a security guard at a Phuket resort last night (July 24).

The security guard, Halem Dami, 18, from Songkhla, survived the attack and is receiving treatment at Thalang Hospital.

Lt Thanom Thongpan of the Tha Chatchai Police told The Phuket News that he was notified of the incident at 8pm.

“An officer on patrol on the Naiyang beachfront called in that a man covered in blood had run up to him appealing for help,” Lt Thanom said.

“The injured man had a serious slash wound to his throat and other cuts on his face.”

The victim, Mr Halem, later told police that he was on duty in front of the hotel where he worked when another guard from the same security company walked past and said: “What are you looking at?”

Mr Halem said the other security guard then attacked him.

“We got into a fight and he pulled out a knife. He tried to stab me many times before he cut my throat,” Mr Halem told police.

Mr Halem gave police the name and a description of his assailant. Apparently the two used to be friends, but had since had a falling out. Police declined to reveal the name of the suspect to The Phuket News.

“We will contact the security company head office in Phuket Town and have the suspect brought in for questioning,” Lt Thanom said.

"...The security guard, Halem Dami, 18, from Songkhla, survived the attack and is receiving treatment at Thalang Hospital..."

But not before taking time to pose for this wonderful portrait.

Well now. If they were friends and just had a falling out ... What's the harm?

Hummm .. Have I been in Thailand too long?

Such an angry people, so prone to extreme bursts of violence with weapons. :(

Perhaps my sig might explain it.

Actually, that portrait is clear evidence that he doesn't have knife and bullet protecting tattoos.

I trust he has learned his lesson and he will pay the local monk to ink him up post haste.

Since his names indicate that he is Muslim, then I doubt it whistling.gif

The usual preferred throat cutting in the south to end all arguements

Too much trouble for them to go and look for him themselves.
