TAT to continue 'Green Season' campaign until September

The Nation

BANGKOK: -- The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and its partners are all geared up to run the "Green Season" campaign until the end of September as part of a marketing campaign to encourage inbound travelling in the low season.

TAT's deputy governor for marketing communications, Sugree Sithivanich, said the agency and partners would continue running the "Green Season" marketing strategy through the current low season. Under the campaign, every millionth visitor to the country is being welcomed at Thailand's international aviation gateways, until September 30.

"Visitor arrivals to Thailand are going up by a million every 10-15 days on average, during what is supposed to be an off-season period. This marketing gimmick to reward the millionth visitor generates positive publicity in the media," Sugree said.

According to preliminary figures released by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Thailand welcomed a total of 15.81 million visitors between January and July 12, a 30.31-per-cent increase over the same period of 2014.

This generated tourism income of Bt741.12 billion, growth of 30.43 per cent over the same period of last year. TAT is projecting 28.8 million visitors in 2015.

On Tuesday, the Thai tourism industry welcomed Al-Shaqsi Yaqdhan Hamad Khalifa from Oman as the country's 17-millionth visitor this year. Thailand's luckiest visitor arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport to a surprise welcome from the executives and representatives of TAT, Thai Airways International, the Immigration Bureau and Airports of Thailand.

I hope the Luckiest visitor (really ...) and his Family get home alive and spend the cattle-seat tickets before all Thai Int flights are banned ....clap2.gifclap2.gifclap2.gif
