August 1, 201510 yr I cannot see how to find out where MS Edge is starting from on Win10 (what is the taskbar Icon linking to?). If I search in Explorer for a microsoftedge.exe it shows microsoftedge.exe or microsoftedgeCP.exe (not sure which to use if any?) that are hidden away in two C:\Windows\WinSxS\ sub folders. If I click on any of the exe files Edge does not start. Only way I can start it is from taskbar? * Reason I ask is I am a Firefox user, and the addon "Browser View" lets me change browsers on the fly if I configure it to correct exe file. Sometimes a web site looks better in another browser. So how does Edge start please?
August 1, 201510 yr Modern Apps work differently. Some explanation here: http://winaero.com/blog/exclusive-how-to-start-a-modern-app-from-desktop-without-going-to-the-metro-start-screen/ You can start Edge with the following command line. Not sure if it will help with what you're trying to do though. explorer.exe shell:AppsFolder\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe!MicrosoftEdge
August 1, 201510 yr Author Thanks. No it doesn't help- seems like the add-on for Firefox cannot handle that! Will have to wait for something else and just do things the long way for now. Cannot give up on FF now, too many useful add-ons and Morning Coffee to get me going. Edge is fast tho!
