If Thailand authorities are serious then they should be contacting the U.S. for help on this. We have just a little bit of experience here.

"OK Thailand, lets see the forensic evidence left behind by the bomb"

"No have . We clean right away. Make like new. Tourist happy. OK?"

"Well, the list of names associated with cellphones in use in the area"

"No have. 16,000,000 not registered. We still let use. Everybody happy. OK?"

"Video of suspect as he move through Bangkok?"

"90% of camera not work. Need money for other things. Tourist think work, feel happy. OK?"

"Photos of people entering Thailand at airports and from immigration?"

"No have. Computer not work. Just act like camera work. Only for collect money. Make bad man happy. OK?"

Please don't be so degenerating. Quite a lot of internationally wanted criminals have been arrested in the Kingdom thanks to the immigration pics. Surely there's much one can blame authorities for, but one cannot blame a country for not being on the level of western countries.

Your so right. I signed up in 2007 and posted often. I rarely visit now. Opening up to find a snide sarcastic comment like this reminded my why I am not bothered opening TV now. Good reply.

Unfortunately in his jest he have spoken the truth. Lets go through it: There are thousands of dummy CCTV cameras in BKK and those that do work are of inferior quality as you can see from the CCTV footage of the suspect. As for the mobile phone sims, all sims was supposed to have been registered by the end of last month but after a years' warning there were still millions that didnt register their sims. So instead of cutting them off and forcing these people to register their sims, they extended the deadline. They also don't want to block stolen prepaid sims at service providors so it very easy to use a stolen sim to commit a crime like this bombing and get away with it. Lets look at the rumors that has been spread by the police and politicians. On the night of the bombing the police chief declared that it was internal politics - without any evidence, then the southern terrorists was mentioned - without evidence, then it was a foreigner - based of the CCTV (one correct), there was 10 people involved and it took them a month to plan - without any evidence, the suspect had to have Thais helping him to get away - truth is he showed a piece of paper with Lupini park on it to the taxi driver, they know there was no foreign terrorists involved because foreign countries have told them so (according to News24) - however they only have asked interpol today for help so how can they know about the involvement of foreign terrorists already this morning, the Thai police must watch a hollywood soap opera to learn how to handle this case - according to the PM of the country. I don't look down on Thai people I just feel sorry for them as they have to live an incompetent police force that just don't learn their lesson to keep their traps shut and first investigate a case before having press conferences. They made the same mistakes with Koh Tao case. Same same police and politicians making statements based on gut feelings and not based on facts or evidence. They then paint themselves into a corner with all their press statements and then have to force the case into a certain direction to avoid suffering a major loss of face.

A worrying possibility is that the guy has managed to escape from Thailand. If for example his hair that day wasn't really his hair (maybe also some other points of disguise), the immigration police wouldn't be able to identify him.

Another Thai government butt sucker... They find those who don't have enough money to pay otherwise it's the photo opt with the pointing fingers.

The answer to perhaps finding out who the real indentity of the bomber is; by passing the hat around so they can buy an authentic facial recognition software to use.

Good on them. The priority here is bringing murdering sub humans to justice for the sake of everyone everywhere. There is not much use to having the biggest face in the graveyard.

Unfortunately it probably very true

Airports did not get locked down.

Shane Looker slipped out of the country without a trace, interpol hve not sited him.

Perhaps some money need investing in the airport, border and city CCTV systems a straight out airport tax of 500 bht would do wonders if it was used to fix CCTV . Facial recognition where is that technology in the LOS dont they have it?

I'm afraid it doesn't matter who they ask for help...

The BBC finds shapnel and takes it to police headquarters, no one home to accept it, Diabolical embaressment now shown on press world wide.

They failed to collect bomb residue, they said there was none?

They cleaned the site washed it down and reopened it , should have been locked down and had forensics all over it.

When will they find the burmese who obviously did this!

Maybe they should ask the BBC and all other members of the public for help and urge them to bring in all souvineer shrapnel immediately!

Just for you KhunKen,

It is NOT crap about visas. Kindly do not ask for evidence to be posted as it may be seen by.....anybody.

Both the UK and Australia offered assistance to the RTP but the offer was declined by the Thai government.

That the Thai government ask assistance from Interpol is very much a no no because Interpol needs names for a warrant/red notice. The Thai police should cooperate with every law enforcement agency in Asia because those people's are Asians, possible Malays, Indonesians, Mainland Chinese or maybe even from Chechnya.

Interpol is not an investigative agency, their work is to coordinate police forces across borders; so asking for help from Interpol is, by de facto, asking other countries to provide assistance.

"Interpol is not a supranational law enforcement agency and has no agents who are able to make arrests.[17] Instead, it is an international organization that functions as a network of criminal law enforcement agencies from different countries. The organization thus functions as an administrative liaison among the law enforcement agencies of the member countries, providing communications and database assistance, assisted via the central headquarters in Lyon, France"

There is journalism and there is playing to the peanut gallery, that is the later. It sells well though.

Need to search database for curly haired persons. If that doesn't solve the mystery then that's the investigation closed. Plot twist: under the yellow shirt it's revealed the perpetrator had on a red shirt

I found this pretty good as journalism goes…..they revealed the incompetence of the investigation team without really using strong words that would of caused loss of face…if it wasn't so tragic the clip would be funny….loved the way the cop at the gates said 'nobody here we are closed'….yea buddy you really are closed.

Why weren't they arrested at immigration as opposed to inside the country? Immigration is essentially corrupt in Thailand.

Many times the police are informed after the criminals have slipped in. Immigration on the border is corrupt for accepting petty bribes, but those at the airport pretty much have no way to accept a bribe and allow criminals in. Most foreign criminals enter by air.

That must be why the airport assignment is not sought by immigration officers. ?

Thai Police have asked for Interpol's help in producing two Burmese.

If u know it and I know it, why would he bother to come thru the airport. Visas are complete bent in Thailand and anything can be arranged to extend ur stay for years for a fee.

They had Asavahame living in the country for years.

Because its the least suspicious way to enter a country...why would you bother to go through border immigration where the travel time takes longer when you know you are not suspected of any crime . Since he left so quickly, perhaps he already flew out from the airport the day of the bombing as well. So why wouldn't you come and leave through the airport if you got your tracks covered and know how incompetent the Thai police is. The point is, he is most likely not a suspected criminal to begin with hence entering and exiting the country by air is not an issue.

Visa issue is not really a topic regarding to the criminal. I don't see the relationship you are trying to point out. I very well know immigration is corrupt and rules are bent.

That BBC report is appalling. We get those kind of things regularly in the UK where the 'journalist' has no desire whatsoever to report the actual story - rather they directly focus on their intention, in this case to try and ridicule the state.

I have a feeling they have plenty of ball bearings and bits of metal from inside the bodies. And the real interest will the explosive, detonator and timing mechanism which we do not know if they have.

I'm not defending the Thai police : they are seriously incompetent but this pantomime filming him taking it to the police station and making sarcastic remarks belongs in the tabloid press, not on the BBC.

If that is Mr Head, he is every bit as grubby as I imagined.
