Crime Man Shoots Brother Dead in Self-Defence During Violent Altercation
Picture courtesy of Khoasod. A family altercation turned deadly on the morning of 23 April, when a man fatally shot his younger brother in apparent self-defence after being attacked with a knife. Police were alerted to the incident at around 10:30 at a residence in Moo 7, Huai Yang Kham sub-district, Chun District, Phayao Province. Upon arrival at the scene, officers from Chun Police Station, led by Pol. Sub-Lt. Wirot Khrongkaphai, found a man lying seriously injured in front of the family home. The victim, later identified as Mr. Pattharasorn, had sustained a gunshot wound to the head. Standing nearby was his elder brother, Mr. Wuttichai, who calmly surrendered himself to police. He admitted to shooting his brother and led officers to the firearm, which was recovered from a storage room at the back of the house. Rescue workers from the Norasingh Chun emergency unit rushed the injured man to Chun Hospital, but doctors later confirmed that Mr. Pattharasorn had succumbed to his injuries. According to a preliminary statement given to police, Mr. Wuttichai claimed that his younger brother had suffered a bout of violent mania and had chased him with a knife in an attempt to stab him. In fear for his life, he retrieved a gun and fired a single shot in self-defence. Medical staff from Chun Hospital have since joined police in conducting a formal autopsy. Authorities have launched an investigation to confirm the sequence of events and determine whether any criminal charges will be filed. Adapted by Asean Now from Khaosod 2025-04-24. -

A crash has claimed the life of a man after he lost control of his pickup truck and it veered off a winding mountain road and plunged into a deep ravine. The incident occurred on April 22nd in the Dong Mada area, near Ban Huai San in Mae Suai District, Chiang Rai Province.
