ThaiVisa improved immensely a few months back when some of its most worthless contributors moved on and set up their own forum.

That may be true up to a point, but there are some TV members who use that forum who are anything but worthless.

I don't use that forum because I can't be bothered to go through all the instructions, and if I could be bothered, I would

hope I was never one of TVs most worthless contributors.

How about this:

Most mangophrenics are worthless, but some are more worthless than others

Have you swallowed a dictionary? What is a mangophrenic?

It's a word that does not exist- I can sort of see where it might be coming from- those of us who rather like the lifestyle here.

Mango and sticky rice- yummy

Seen BF as "bar fine", but also BF as "best friend", BFF "best female friend" usually in the context of the conversation it becomes clear but not always, doesnt hurt to ask for clarification though eh.

BFF means 'Best Friends Forever', not 'Best Female Friend'.

So the only interpretation or meaning is the one you decide is right, not what other people have heard or encountered, ok, got that.thumbsup.gif

That's the commonly accepted meaning. I've never heard anyone give your definition before.

So because YOU havnt seen or heard it makes it wrong ? so my statement stands, it needs your knowledge to be "right" or acceptable.

I guess any three words that begin with the appropriate letters could be a valid answer. Best friends forever is the commonly understood meaning though, it's a pretty well established phrase.

Let's not get into a silly row about it, though.

Simple explanation

People get here with unrealistic expectations, when these expectations are challenged who can they communicate their frustrations with?

TVF is an easy outlet.

and does one accept responsibility or does one blame others and go negative?

culture shock is easier to verbalize and rationalize under the cover of anonymity

There are a few reasons why this happens. Firstly because Thailand was never colonised there is little social structure amongst the expat community. Basically, no one has any authority or prior knowledge over anyone else, so debate can quickly descend into chaos/insults. Plus, because users comment online anonymously, posters do not have to be polite.

Do not let the negative comments bother you. Remember TV is just a website, nothing more. So if it is getting you down, there are lots of other great things to do in Thailand, such as eating good food at the restaurants or ever better, spending a few weeks on the Beach!

Words on a page, and like a book, easily closed and put down. It only bothers you or appears negative if you allow it to.

Unlike people, computers have an off switch ya know, wouldnt it be great if someone in a bar somewhere starts running off at the mouth and you just reach over and switch it off!

Mind you, some would say that does exist, its called a right cross...cheesy.gif

You think ThaiVisa is negative because Thailand was never colonised.

What a wonderful hypothesis. Thank you for sharing.

Well, I am just saying it may have been one of the factors that came into play!

And you may be right.

IMO, though, the main reason is that western men who end up in Thailand often have one or more of the traits (or personality characteristics) that western women find unattractive. These traits include negativity, jealousy, bitterness and a curious need to have the last word.
