3BB DSL vs. 3BB Fiber - Side by Side Comparison

Recommended Posts

Hey All,

I have both 3BB DSL and Fiber connected to the house at this moment.

( SEE ATTACHMENT)

I'm no internet wizard, but seems (more of a feeling really) to me that there is no appreciable difference in internet performance as most of the websites I visit, stream, and download from are outside of asia.

Coles:

Internet in Asia = Fast

Internet on Other continents = same, with 25-100% faster upload speeds

** If someone wants to see another comparison, I may be talked into doing it later.

Rgs,

SM

I upgraded from adsl to fiber and my buffering video streaming (HD streams from outside Thailand) resolved itself.

I regularly get 35 Mbit speed tests with speedtest.net but know many of these get cached. I do however get multi MB/s torrents coming in on fiber now, when it used to be 1.x MB/s with adsl

Using a speed test internal to Thailand won't give you anything like accurate results. Also, the true speed of your ADSL line depends on how many people are sharing your circuit and how many are active when you take the test. From those results you are unlikely to be able to conclude anything, reliably.

Those were international speed results.. Singapore, yangon, hong kong, etc.. Not transpacific or europe though.. Those scored lower.

like I say, real world use my torrent speeds 200 - 300% higher on well seeded material, making popcorn time perfect, and HD netflix, iplayer, etc etc all became useable where before they were buffering and a waste of time.

Since having fiber installed my media streaming all became reliable enough to not feel compromised.

Sorry, I meant to say, using a speed test program initiated in Thailand.
