I asked my bank to send me my last 6 months bank statements and they came back in the post as If I had printed them myself (with duplicate written across on them).. Nationwide

Does this pose a problem with the spouse visa. Same for my payslips. They send on email only so I've printed

I've got an original letter from my company stating my salary though. Although not addressed to the embassy,

My wife has already gone back to her country to submit the visa but I haven't booked a date yet. Just want to iron out the balance of bugs that are worrying me and its just these

Same as land registry, they only provide a copy not an original.

From Appendix FM- Specified Evidence

1. In relation to evidencing the financial requirements in Appendix FM the following general provisions shall apply:

(a) Bank statements must:

(v) be:
(1) on official bank stationery; or
(2) electronic bank statements which are either accompanied by a letter from the bank on its headed stationery confirming that the documents are authentic or which bear the official stamp of the issuing bank on every page.

I'm sure if you visit your local branch and explain the situation they will be happy to provide such a letter or stamp the pages for you.

Further on in the this part of the appendix;

(bb) Payslips must be:

(i) original formal payslips issued by the employer and showing the employer's name; or
(ii) accompanied by a letter from the employer, on the employer's headed paper and signed by a senior official, confirming the payslips are authentic;

I'm not sure if the letter you describe would be acceptable; so to be sure I'd ask my employer for a letter as described in sub Para (bb)(ii) above.

You don't need anything from the Land Registry. If you want to prove ownership of your property then a mortgage statement or, if the mortgage is paid off, a copy of your deeds will suffice. But usually on accommodation they'll take your word for it if you simply say that you own the property.

Edit:

Unless you are meeting the financial requirement in whole or part through cash savings from the sale of a property. In which case a copy from the Land Registry is fine; see Para 11A(d)(iv)(1) of the appendix.

You are a star sir, thank you.

I shall head to the bank tomorrow and get them to stamp my bank statements

Regarding the payslips, I'll actually get the agency to write a new letter giving explicit information about pay and payslips etc. just to be on the safe side. Such a shame shes just gone back. Another whacking postal bill on the way.

Even though I had wage slips etc, I got a letter from my employer to substantiate the facts and length of employment.

I printed off by own Nationwide BS statements and the Nationwide wrote a confirmation letter.

I'd paid off my mortgage, but the previous Building Society confirmed full repayment and ownership of my property.

I had a local Estate Agent do a Property Inspection Report and they also noted they had seen my title deeds.

Maybe a little overkill, but each to their own and we got the approval 9 days after submission in China.

They did charge a fee mate. £5

£5 for sending me 6 pieces of paper they could have printed then and there in the bank, double sided as I hardly spend anything directly out of my current account. Printed from a normal office laser jet, not proper statements by any stretch.

When I go to the bank I'm not paying again I'm making them do it then and there and stamp those <deleted>

Employment letter(original) on the way too.

Banks are like that!

Last month mine bounced a direct debit for £12.12 as paying it would have put me above my overdraft limit by a couple of quid.

Then they charged me £15 for bouncing the direct debit plus another £5 because that charge meant I exceed my agreed overdraft!

Maybe a little overkill, but each to their own and we got the approval 9 days after submission in China.

Just to point out that the quality, or otherwise, of the evidence has very little, if any, effect on processing times.

These generally depend on how many applications are ahead of you in the queue, and until an application reaches the head of that queue the evidence wont have been looked at by an ECO.

I'm in the bank now

Told them I was disappointed that the bank statements I was sent that I paid £5 for were just printed out and I could have done it myself

However my wife's taken them back to her country so I need it done again with the stamp.

Their colour printer is broken, only printing in black and white. 6 months bank statements double sided about 9 pieces of paper... They said they have to charge £5 again. So I paid

They stamped them and the stamp is with black ink so it looks like they were printed with the stamp already on. The inconsistency of the stamp with ink smeared so on some you can't even see what it says, hopefully they'll be convinced they're genuine.

And you never guess what. After paying £5 they wouldn't even give me an a4 envelope. They just pretended not to have any

Finally.. I asked how much extra it was to have statements sent to my house again (as I opted out to help the environment and all that...)

They said there is no fee !!!! So it's free to send official copies in the post ! But £5 to Print retrospectively in black and white on shitty quality paper. Amazing

It's time to change to a real bank rather than the piggy bank you've got at the moment. Time to name and shame them

I've already stated i bank with nationwide

Took out the account originally due to free transactions abroad, remember back in the day? Everyone had one. However they stopped it a long time ago

I'm actually re mortgaging in about a months time when I move house, with natwest. I know they're still a shower of shit but I may move current account due to this bad treatment.

All banks do it; some would have charged you more.

It is the price we pay for free current accounts, I'm afraid. The current account may be free, even pay interest if in credit, but everything else, even providing copies of past statements, is charged for.

The few remaining mutual building societies, such as the Nationwide, don't have shareholders to pay dividends to, but they still have to cover their running costs.

Sorry 7by7 that's not strictly true. I just did my wife's FLR and needed up to date statements from my bank (a well known high street bank). I have 5 different a/cs and they printed off all the statements, stamped them and signed them at no cost.
