Where to buy the stuff that melts the dead skin off your feet ?

One time when I went to a massage shop, they applied a kind of gel to my feet and wraped them in plastic wrap. After about 15 minutes my feet were washed and the dead skin came off as easy as butter with a plastic scraper. It seemed to do a much better job than the usual dry scraping cutting method.

Alternatively you can soak your feet in warm water (add milk if u want) for about 20mins, then use a scrapper to scrap off the dead skin.

Try Boots or some other large chemists, they might have some of those

foot pedi sanders,I have one and they work very well, does not hurt,no

chemicals, its a hand held device with a small sanded roller.

Pineapple has some enzyme in it that acts with dead skin apparently - I've always going to be trying it out, and for the last year I've been rescuing the last sad bits of pineapple and putting them in a bag in the freezer. I now have enough to do something with them. I might defrost them at the weekend and put them on the bottom of my trotters held with a pair of airline socks for an hour or so and see what happens.

There again, I might just keep on freezing the last few sad bits of pineapple.

My goodness. This town has a nail salon on practically every street offering pedicures at a reasonable price. There is no excuse for having feet that look like that guy's in the video. Come on guys -- treat yourself to a good pedicure at least once a month!

Nancy, there is a difference between a pedicure and heavy industrial excavation...

I have resorted to using a coarse metal file, followed up with 80 grit sand paper to get the big stuff, then apply a liberal amount of anti fungal cream to keep my feet presentable...

Righto -- but if you have a pedicure at least once a month and rub a little cream on your feet after every shower, you won't need to bring out the power tools a few times a year.

Great idea Nancy. Thanks. Didnt realise those poor girls had to cope with guys (bad) feet as well. Poor things. I will give it a go.

Thought you had to find a chiropodist for that stuff.

Anyone got a cure for toenail fungus - that really works! Lots of old wives tales - that dont work.

The 'pulse 'Itraconazole tablets worked for 8/10 but the other 2 persist.... Dont really want to do another pulse course for months unless thats the only option

Be nice to the sweet gals in the nail salons -- go see them every month for your feet and give them a nice tip, rather than waiting until conditions are dire and expecting them to work miracles for their 250 baht special price.

Coconut oil on your feet 3 or 4 times a week after a shower. Put on ankle socks after, so you don't go sliding around the place.smile.png
Coconut oil is also anti-fungal. Keep your nails trimmed, or get NancyL's girls to do it for you if you're having trouble getting down there.rolleyes.gif

Regards.

I've always felt too embarrassed to take my feet along to one of those FootMassage/Pedicure places; are you absolutely sure that they don't mind having flaky, dry, Fungal-infected feet and toes stuck in their faces?? If so, after a thorough scrubbing--I might go to one. Are they all equal--or are some good and some bad?

Who are Nancy Ls girls and where are they?

Anyone care to shed anyblight on this? I actually need my feet sorting out, although I was told to use coconut oil after showering

Seriously guys, you've never noticed the nail salons on almost every street in Chiang Mai? There are several branches of Nice Nails, City Nails on the west side of the Old City, Monique on the second floor of Kad Suan Kaew, Collette on Sirimanklajarn, ToBe Nails next to the Shell Station on Huey Kaew, just to name those on my radar. They are nearly as numerous as beauty salons.

What you're looking for is a store that has pictures of a pretty hand with polished nails on the glass. Not a kiosk with bottles of nail polish in a mall. Those are nail art places, often without running water and don't have an interest in soaking feet and scraping off dead skin from feet. Instead, they paint lovely designs on the nails of the hand.

oh so you are nancy. who are your girls though? do you have a nail shop with girls is that what is being referred to?

i have noticed nail shops yes but not taken a great deal of interest tbh, normally as you say i see the painted nail shops and the pedicure or manicure generally offered at massage shops.

Not all, but a lot of hairdressers also do pedicures. Where ever you go, as if they do foot scrape if they don't do the foot scrub, some do and the ones who are only playing at pedicures don't. Some will charge a little more than for a standard pedicure as it can take a fair bit longer, but make sure you see them change the blade - if they don't, ask them to or reconsider your choice but don't let them proceed with a used blade - health and safety, plus the blade needs to be nice and sharp, particularly if you are in dire need of it. The blades are very cheap, so you really shouldn't have to ask.

Gents, smile and ask the nice girls in the salon: "Manipedi?". Do it near a bar and they'll even get your beer for you. Buy them one too and make it a party. Great way to meet the ladies.

No, I don't own a nail salon. Konini's right, some beauty salons and even barber shops will do mani/pedis, but be sure they're set up to do a nice long soak for your feet, sterilize their equipment and change out the blade if they're using a razor. Really, they shouldn't use a razor to trim callous -- you should go frequently enough that conditions don't get so dire that anything beyond a raspy file is needed.

This.

Instead of going to the bars, I used to go get pedicures and manicures so I could sit for two hours with pleasant ladies to practice my Thai. If Mrs T had witnessed the proceedings, she wouldn't have liked it because her threshold for "gallivanting with the ladies" is pretty low.

It's really quite fun. Order some food and drinks and make an indoor pedicure picnic of it.
