Be careful if you are on a bike going from Central heading north, about 200 yds past Tesco Lotus, hit a big hole this morning early and crashed the bike(going maybe 40/45 kph as it was very dark, nothing serious injury wise but feel pretty banged up, another lad hit the same hole but managed to stay upright, how do they get away with the disgusting roads here!!

4 young Thai lads rushed to help me, can't thank them enough, all asked if I was okay, cheers lads!

I thought I read some "official" had ordered the road on the side of the underpass construction to be repaired. Should be easy enough with minimum fuss just like the section opposite Honda dealer on Chao Fa West was completed in a couple of days.

Just back from Honda, new front suspension, new tire, new front mud guard, new rear brake lever, less than 3500bht

Send the receipt to the highway department (or whoever is responsible there), and see what happens.

Do we not already know the outcome of doing that? thought about it then thought what's the point! the main thing is I'm still alive!

Yes, we do. But is that a reason not to do it?

If we already know the outcome then yes of course that's a very good reason not to bother!

Sorry, don't agree with you. With something like this you don't just send an invoice to receive money, but also to confirm to them there are big problems there, to be in a good position if you hear of somebody else getting a reimbursement and to let them know the present situation is unacceptable.

It's already been posted that repairs to the road should have been done, repairs to the road have not been done and probably won't be done anytime soon, I've done my bit by warning forum bike riders to be very careful when traveling north from Central past Tesco Lotus, in a country where the police don't give a stuff about the law and enforcing the law do you honestly think transport office will rush out and spend money repairing a hole and rut ridden surface(600km section from Surat Thani to Hui him is pot hole and rut ridden) to save people's lives? They can't even enforce crash helmets, speeding, driving the wrong way etc anyway lots to complain about here still better than the UK!

Friend has just gone through the section a couple of hundreds yards north of the big Tesco lotus, it's still the same, what is wrong with this backward country where you can leave big holes in the road, shouldn't be surprised when they are incapable of enforcing any road laws!!

As a small motorbike rider, I have to memorize all the pot-holes on all my routes.

When it's been raining and the roads are wet, it's vital to know which is a puddle and which is a hole.

Stay safe, I would hate for anyone to go down the hole I did, it virtually stopped my Click dead, that section of road will not be repaired until the underpass is completed, crazy country!!

"As a small motorbike rider" - which one is small? You, or the motorbike, or both? :)

Maby everyone should carry some bright yellow spray paint and spray around the holes to help others see them.... May help the powers to be find them too

That's a good idea providing you can carry a can of spray paint as big as a diving cylinder, I honestly don't thing the powers to be could give a stuff about holes!

Plus: the holes are visible in the day and dry weather, but not much so in the rain. And the paint will not be very visible through the puddles.

A fluorescent paint circle around the hole would be visable at night, when a headlight/s shine on them.

As I said, not visible in the rain.

I remember reading somewhere that potholes were spray painted into 'willies' or other embarrassing images, to shame the local authority into repairing them.

Perhaps they should spray paint the outline of a human body around all the potholes here.

Not that any local authority would be shames by that here, nor even consider repairing them, for that matter.

There are two massive holes by the gas station just before the big Honda dealer on the way to Central, if you hit one of these on a bike you will have a bad problem!

Speaking of holes. Kata hill lane extension heading to Chalong has developed two big pot holes right on the sharp bend. Be careful.

I drive past those two holes everyday, they are tiny compared to the two I have mentioned!

They are growing bu the day. Wont be long before someone hits the loose gravel surrounding them.

All we can do is inform people on here and hope everyone stays safe, the powers to be are not interested at all!
