The problem with these Mayweather fights is that the purse is tied to the number of rounds fought.

The fewer the rounds, the less the pay-out (advertising, sponsors etc).

Hence no incentive to go for a knock out.

He's taken down the best and has taken a few hidings from big name boxers.

Agreed, Khan would steamroll Mayweather.

But he aint silly. Hes getting the big money and has the luxury of choosing. Why would he choose a guy that would beat him up bad?

Mayweather was in the audience at the Ortiz/Berto fight, grinning his stupid head off. That was one great fight that went the distance, and i doubt mayweather would have been able to take the shots either of those took.

Good luck to Mayweather. He keeps saying this will be his last fight but i don't know why he wouldn't want to take Marciano's record. Truth is he may not be as exciting to watch any more but why should he. The old school purist boxing where a true champion took on all challengers and even moved up and down weight divisions are mostly over. Smart boxer/ promoters like Mayweather fight who and when they want, when and where they want. Some would like to call it "fixed" but it's just good business sense. It has effected the sweet science irreversibly now and most fights are decided before the fighters have even stepped in the ring (few true upsets) at that level now but most fighters still give their best. Pacquiao did all right but it was just a pay day, he was never gonna KO Mayweather or get a decision over the champ. It wasn't a great fight but it was still a good contest.
