Where can I buy a 17 inch laptop in Bangkok?

Featured Replies

I've tried Pantip, Mega Bagna, Big C, MBK, etc, and can't find any - with the exception of IT City at Mega Bagna, which seemed to be able to order one, but for 80,000 baht. Considering that I paid 11,000 for a Leveno 17 inch in Pattaya 3 years ago, 80,000 seems exorbitant.

Best bet is Fortune Tower at MRT station Pra Ram 9.

If you want full HD screen in any size other than a tablet, I have been looking and haven't seen any for less than 30K. Every one below 30K baht is 720P, unless its' second hand.

I saw a 17" laptop, Acer I think, at Power Mall in Siam Paragon a few weeks ago.

Hi,

I would go to Pantip Plazza. This is the biggers IT complex i know. They have many computer shops, DVD shops. You can find almost everything what has to do with IT.

Pantip is now a clothes mall as when I went there last April.

I've been there recently and though there is some renovation, it's still a vibrant IT market.

I prefer Fortune Tower (or Fortune Town) because it's laid out better, and you don't have to walk through a bunch of aggressive porn hawkers to get to the good stuff like at Pantip.

Remember looking a few years ago at Leveno 17 inch, if I remember were 2, about 11,000 and about 16,000 baht.. very poor spec even for back then. feel sure I have seen recently, but all fairly good spec but starting about 49,000 baht upwards. most appear to have SSHD drive or Solid state disk + Good graphics Card with 2GB of DDR5 + 8 - 16 GB Ram [more of a gaming machine]

Must it be a Laptop ? the All in One machines now a day look good value, 19" with i5 CPU + 500 GB HDD + 4GB Ram, between 16 - 20,000 baht.

I think you mean the Platinum Mall. This mall is only a few meters next to Pantip.

I think my Lenovo has good specs. What happened to the prices, why did they skyrocket?

What's an All in One machine?

"All-in-One" refers to the new design of the PC, no longer a screen and stand alone box, its "all in one" just looks like a 19 inch monitor with everything built into it, with a separate keyboard.

The all in one might work in my room, but it doesn't look like it would be easy to travel with,

The all in one might work in my room, but it doesn't look like it would be easy to travel with,

An all in one computer it not for travel like an laptop. It is more like a more special design of a normal homecomputer.

In my case it is not a good choice, because if you want to renew the computer you have to buy everything again. with a normal desktop PC you can reuse the monitor again...

So with an all in one you have the both disadvantage of a desktop (no travel) and a laptop (replace complete computer).

The all in one might work in my room, but it doesn't look like it would be easy to travel with,

Maybe time to buy a house, then you could "travel" from room to room with it?

This would be an expensive solution. But of course one possible way *smile
