First time Driving Licence

Featured Replies

I am sorry if the answer to this has been posted elsewhere,

but I could only see how to get a Thai Licence if you already

had an International or Licence from your home country.

I have taken driving lessons in Thailand and want to get the

Licence. I know I have to do a written and driving test and

have done a mock one already. I don't have a Licence in my

home country.

My question is what paper work do I need to submit? as I

have seen a couple of conflicting pieces of information mainly

around having a Work Permit. I have a Non O Visa, but do not

work out here so no work permit.

The school where you took your driving lessons in Thailand should inform you of all the needed paperwork and may even arrange to a join and assist you at the license office.

As always when you visit officialdom, take everything plus copies.

Passport with visa/extension plus copies, medical statement and certificate of address.

Agree with what he said. If you want car and motorbike you need two of each. I had two originals of medical and resident letter to avoid being turned back if one original and one copy. Others may have experience with using only one set of originals.

I strongly recommend ID Driver School

My Missus has used them for training with both an automatic transmission car and a manual transmission truck. They taught her well.

I used them to get a license for a motorbike which I rarely drive.

They're prices are very reasonable and I think they produce what they promise.
