Taxi Driver Accused of sexually assaulting Drunk Passenger Leaving RCA

Taxi driver Chartchai Pinthurak yesterday at the Kok Kram Police Station in Bangkok.

BANGKOK — A taxi driver has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting his passenger and stealing her mobile phone last week.

Chartchai Pinthurak, 36, is accused of raping the 37-year-old victim at a hotel in Bangkok’s Bueng Kum district early Friday morning after she reportedly passed out in his vehicle from drinking too much.

The victim hailed Chartchai’s cab for a ride home from RCA, a popular nightlife area, but the driver instead took her to the hotel and assaulted her, according to Police Col. Kittichet Sakkayaphabwichanond of Kok Kram Police Station.

I am not blaming the victim or her friends, but let this be a reminder to not send your female friends off on their own at night. Be safe, even if it means spending a little more time and money to escort them to their door.

One night in CM, my wife went to a friend's bar to celebrate a birthday. I stayed home and worked on the computer (it was my birthday)

She drank way too much and managed to ring me and mumble the words "Come and get me".

She was "comatosed" when I got her back to our condo and was trying to get her out of the car and then into the elevator. Some western guests came out of the elevator as I was trying to get legless wife in.

I mumbled something like "It's ok, she is my wife" and they looked at me as if to say "Sure she is".

There are more cases like this only never reported because the woman don't want to have more problems or be in the spotlight.

These young guy's see a sexy hot drunk lady and take abuse of them knowing they most likely will not report it.

My friend now only gets in a tuk tuk with very old drivers.

I agree that there's a high risk.

I disagree that something bad should automatically happen to a seriously inebriated female alone with a man.

Also not male friends. Unless you find a gay taxi driver you might not get sexually assaulted, but your money, watch, iphone might be missing. You could even end in the next canal........

If you are drunk, don't close your eyes and take a nap. Focus and pretend to still know what is going on.

It could have been some cheap Thai style dive with no standard registration procedures...like a simple short time place

a lot of so called "hotels" are short time boom boom rooms

you drive in under a curtain and i suppose he could have left her in the car and paid

or maybe he even lives there
