German married to a thai planning to move to USA

Featured Replies

Hey,

I am married to a Thai and we plan to relocate to the USA.

What are the VISA requirements for her and for me? Any first hand info?

Visa requirements? Well, many!

You should start your reading on the subject here:

http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visas.html

More details on types of Immigrant visas here:

http://www.travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/immigrate.html

This www site also has a lot of great info: www.visajourney.com

One of the first Qs that will come up is what is your, or your wife's, qualification(s) to request an IMMIGRANT visa.

Mac

Our member Naam is a German who moved with his wife to Florida, US and found it very difficult to keep permission to stay. I believe he even bought a house. He would be a good resource for this information. Although he said that the US is the best place on earth to live, he had problems staying.

It is very difficult even for an American citizen to get a Thai into the US just for a visit. Others here may have more informed opinions about that than I do.

Cheers.

First question under what circumstances are you going to live in America? Are you a green card holder or on a non-immigrant visa?

Because that will decide what kind of visa she will need.
