Deputy PM Prawit Wongsuwan orders all forces to aid flood victims

BANGKOK, 21 September 2015 (NNT)- Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan has ordered the military to monitor the flooding situation continuously especially in high risk areas, according to Defence Ministry spokesman Colonel Kongcheep Tantrawanich.

The Deputy Prime Minister has tasked the military with using its ability to penetrate affected areas in order to help flood victims. The military has been told to coordinate with various agencies in order to speed up the aid delivery process.

All three forces under the military have been providing assistance to the provinces of Chonburi, Chachoengsao, Sa Kaeo, Ratchaburi , Prachuab Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Ranong, Surat Thani, Trang, as well as Bangkok and its vicinity.

Officials have been helping flood victims evacuate from affected areas, move their belongings to higher grounds, set up temporary shelters, facilitate transportation, provide emergency medical health care, and distributing relief goods to those in need.

In 2011 the military did great work when we were flooded. They were the true hero's much better as YL who relabeled donations so it looked like they came from the PTP. The military set up a truck service to dry land from where we were flooded. Brought in food and water. So they have proven themselves back then I hope they do the same for the people who are flooded now.
