As of late 24 sept the "TV" option on Maige Tv IPTV box has been restricted to only programs in Chinese. All of the English news and sports channels have disappeared with no notice of why. CNN,BBC,ESPN 1AND 2 ,CNBC, BLOOMBERG , ETC are no longer available. "Invalid channel number" appears on the screen when attempting to use those channels. Repeated attempts to contact MaigeTV.com have been unsuccessful. Anyone thinking of purchasing the Maige TV box be aware!

I just got an email from Maige TV which I copied below. Problem came at a very awkward time with the NRL finals on at the moment. Fortunately I have another way of accessing Setanta, as long as the internet doesn't go down.

Due to moving servers to a new location many channels on the Maige TV are disabled at the moment.
It might take around 2 weeks until the issue is solved. For some channels it might happen sooner though.

We apologize for the problems, 45 days of subscription have been added to your account as compensation.

Nivram, Thank you for that reply. Have been waiting to hear from them.

I got the same email from Maige a week ago, but now I cannot connect at all. The startup page on the Maige box says, please see if your internet is alright.

My internet works perfectly well on every device except the Maige box, so maybe the are more problems at Maige. I found a posting on another forum:

http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/home-theatre-audiophiles-13/maigetv-5186713.html

in which the subscriber provides the following info:

"Due to the thorough investigation of the situation is very serious, we temporarily shut down the server, after you switch the screen display "Please check your network is normal," this is a problem normally,

not your home network. For further progress, we will promptly inform all customers." (translated from Chinese by Google translate)

I don't know how accurate that info is, but it fits with the experience that I'm having.

If nivram4491 is reading this, can you share your alternative way of accessing Setanata? I'm desperate to see the NRL final and the Rugby World Cup and don't like watching in beer bars!

Need to thank the op for the heads up. When I posted I had no problem but 2 hrs later I did.. As my yearly subscription coincided with this interruption (dumb luck) I contacted my deal who is Cable Streamer and ask them how to renew. they old me to go the Maige web site which I did and applied for a new 1 year subscription. This was on a Tuesday as they use pay pail and they are slower than snake shyt to process a cc, my cc did not clear my bank until the following Monday. The next day even the chines channels did a ledger and getting the same check your internet connection. That Tuesday I sent an emil enquiry to Cable Streamer and they people an answer to me with the same info others have received. This answer was from Cable Streamer NOT Maige. In fairness it has just been 1 week , keep your fingers crossed. I have just contacted Cable Streamer and Maige once more. I shall keep this thread updated if and when I get any info. this being Friday I do not look for a reply until Monday.

Dear Customer!

The Maige TV service is experiencing serious problems since last week.
It’s being worked on, but it might take up until mid-october until the issue is completely solved. For some channels and locations it might happen sooner though.

We apologize for the problems, 45 days of subscription have been added to your account as compensation.

Its a ripoff and you guys have been caught up in it. Never purchase stolen video IPTV streams as this is what happens. There are no guarantees and especially purchasing from China.

I have never seen or heard any derogatory proof against Maige TV in the 4 years its been out. Now I'm not saying that things couldn't go tits up but bar rumors and rumor mongers are definitely a put off.

You are paying very expensive money for both the box and channels. The channels are stolen streams from the internet. You are paying a Chinese company for stolen IPTV. There are no guarantees. Look at the website its run by criminals who use the word LIE to describe somebody who has called them out for there crap. Is that something a reputable, responsible company would do? Hahah well you guys go ahead and buy into their crap but dont cry when these things happen.

Proof of what?

Its obvious from your statement you dont know much about the world of internet media boxes and media.

Ive been using an android box and first XBMC and now Kodi for about 2 years now. As such, Ive gained a pretty good knowledge of the underworld of IPTV, China and these boxes. There are even programs designed and used to "scrape" these sites and get the specific codes in order to to display these media streams.

Do you really think that the owners of Sky TV, HBO, Showtime, Discovery, would give some obscure Chinese or Thai company the rights to display their streams? No they wont.

Like said before you guys are paying Chinese gangster hackers money for stolen streams.

And the same boxes they are charging over $300 US can be had for less than $50 US. Even the best Android boxes at this time don't cost that price.

Here Ive attached a snapshot of how this reputable company converses to its potential customers. Tell me is this how a company talks?

You guys are nuts paying for this crap. Google the topic, learn what the good boxes are and learn Kodi. Then quit paying for Chinese hackers to steal streams for you to watch post-198680-14437995705556_thumb.jpg

Like I said, there is a whole "sub-culture" dedicated to the topics I mentioned in my previous post. There are countless links, with millions of pages of topics and discussions about media moxes, IPTV, Kodi and a whole host load of reference material. There are many Facebook pages dedicated to sharing these different IPTV links and channels FOR FREE. Also, MANY discussion groups where people go to learn and share the code to these items. There is no way I could give you a single source or link to the topic. Google Kodi and android/media boxes that would be a good start for research.

Ive included a couple screen snapshots of the shareware KODI which is free. This is the setup on my laptop. I watch it everyday and I dont have to pay one of these ripoff sites a penny.

Here is a link to one of the most reputable media box companies in business today: http://minix.com.hk/

These are top of the line boxes and are far less than the price of Maige and its subscription. Top of the line Minix box is about 5600 baht, software is FREE. To top it all off the boxes are actually mini computers which can do anything a typical computer can do. I have both Android and Windows versions.

Open your eyes and take your head out of the sand. The world of media boxes, Kodi and sharing is large and expanding everyday.

FWIW 2fishin2 links are from maigetv.com who are a reseller

Are you a reseller?

If so, then YOU KNOW they are not. They might be sent to a consumer as such but down inside the code of the channel stream will be the true origin of the original source for the leach/seed.

As we all know, Maigie is a Chinese company based in Shenzhen. A friend of a friend is actually an employee of them, he is European and has actually worked for them for over three years. He is fully legal in China with the required work permit.

He has said that Maigie is a very large company with customers world wide but a lot of their traffic uses Chinese servers.

Now as I reside in China, I have everyday nightmares with the Great Chinese Firewall. If you use google in any shape or form, you are forced to use a VPN, even that simple task has now become hard work thanks to China clamping down and blocking.

I am reliably informed that the Maigie statement about their servers is a fact and they are now finding ways to exit their Chinese servers to go international. Some may remember a month or so ago, that a number of channels were unavailable for a day or two and were showing as being under maintenance . This was because the servers for those channels were in fact Taiwanese and they were affected by a typhoon that hit at the exact same time as the channels went down.

For those with negative comments stating Maigie are illegal and have gone tits up , may I ask, if that's the case why are they sending out constantly to members emails explaining the situation and even offering 45 day extensions of agreements as compensation ? It just doesn't make sense, if they have gone to employ people to send out mails for a service that doesn't exist, surely they would close shop and disappear

On the subject of Maigie having to make comments about a Thai based person, I saw that as a refusal to allow a person based in Thailand to slander them, especially as that person, as hinted in a previous submission is a competitor to Maigie.

You don't use the word LIE in reference to another person and you do not conduct arguments over public internet ever. And to do it on your own company we site, come on its a no-brainer. Actually location of server doesnt matter as no-matter where it is physically located, the streams are still stolen. Lets not get into the ripoff the company is doing by overcharging their customers for their boxes.....

2fishin2, you are right, we coukd all figure this out and fund the streans for free. I use Kodi myself for certain things.

But I am no expert and care not to become one. There are other people out there who understand thus and put it all together for me and I am quite happy to pay for that service. As an expert in these matters, instead of ranting, why don't you use your expertise to put together a service for others to enjoy? You can make money, and everyone can get to watch their favourite TV from back home.

Am beginning to wonder whether you are the person Maigie were referring to .?

Can you watch programmes on-demand with Kodi? For example, I don't want to stay up until 4am to watch England lose at rugby, but would rather watch it the following morning over breakfast (as I do now with thaiexpat.tv).

Think of Kodi as more the operating system.. In which many different modules and plug ins can be built in or written.. So that Kodi provides the TV friendly, remote control useable, unified user interface to manage and watch all kind of content.. Movies, TV, Music, IPTV Live Steams, Apps, everything.

It is for example, fairly easy to have android apps like ThaiExpatTv or Sport365 installed within kodi.. I myself keep Iplayer, Netflix, spotify, and a couple of other android apps built into the menu structure.

So as well as handling the free or pirate streams, free or paid IPTV live streams.. It can handle the subscription apps with whatever features you wish to pay for.. Its not the content provider, its the framework to manage the content elegantly.

Free.. Paid.. Live.. Timeshifted.. Local or remote content.. Its the one ring to bind them ;)

Its not without some setup and config time costs, some people dont like to invest the time.. Some people dont see much advantage over a few disjointed raw apps on one TV.. But as you build it more to your personal setup its more and more powerful, stuff like whole home use.. Pause and resume in multiple locations.. Or physical things including timing and scripting home automation, home theater controls (think dimming lights, dropping a projector screen, switching from LED TV to the projector, etc etc..).. Many of the same people who dont see the value in investing a few days learning, then get a product demo where they are passed a tablet PC as a remote control, with all the home media cataloged by genre, with cover art and synopsis, etc etc all in the palm of thier hand and are suddenly interested. This level of stuff used to costs 10's of 1000s of USD and now can be done for a few hundred bucks.
