FDA: Thailand has removed drugs with Phenylpropanolamine from shelves since 2001

BANGKOK, 30 September 2015, (NNT) - Dr.Boonchai Somboonsook, Secretary-General of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), has revealed all types of drugs containing Phenylpropanolamine (PPA) have been removed from shelves since 2001, dismissing a claim in an unidentified online source that the move was just undertaken.

The message, which was circulated among LINE application users, claimed that several well-known painkillers in the markets still contained PPA, which could cause a brain hemorrhage. Dr. Boonchai reaffirmed that the information was over decades old as any drugs with Phenylpropanolamine have been removed since July 24th, 2001.

He also stated that all of the medicines in the market are being supervised by the Ministry of Public Health. Dr. Boonchai urged the public not to rely on information obtained online as they spread news without specific sources.

Rubbish.... It was in Tiffy cold tablets until recently which contained Acetaminophen 325 mg; Chlorpheniramine Maleate 2 mg; Phenylpropanolamine Hydrochloride 18.75 mg. This was still the formula until recently when they changed the Phenylpropanolamine to Phenylephrine. So the move was not undertaken in 2001 but only recently. The previous active ingredient of Tiffy, Phenylpropanoamine, can be used to manufacture Methamphetamines.

better be carefull with what you put in your mouth, specially things you cannot read, i mean, if it is complicated, better to watch out

all chemical meds suppress a natural metabolic enzyme or process

in stead of taking some natural alternative that helps the body fight the ... whatever ....
