Three red-shirt arsonists in Muk Dahan get 15 years each

BANGKOK: -- Three red-shirt protesters accused of setting fire to the Muk Dahan provincial hall during the protests against the government of prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva were sentenced to 15 years imprisonment by the Appeals Court.

The three defendants namely Wichai U-suphan, Samak Lunreela and Natthawut Pikulsri were given life imprisonment by the Criminal Court.

Mr Wiset U-suphan, father of Wichai, said he would like his son to accept the Appeals Court’s verdict so that the case would be over. He expected his son to gain freedom after serving some years in prison.

However, the trio’s lawyer preferred to appeal the verdict to the Supreme Court and would try to seek bail for them.

Life reduced to 15 years (possible parole, maybe even a Royal pardon in a few years) looks like a fair result.

The Supreme Court could decide to re-impose the life sentences - and there is no further appeal after that (AFAIK) - so quite a risk.

Knowing that a government which ignores rule of law is bound to come into power and free his son, despite his son's involvement in a violent crime.

One more red shirt in jail is one less criminal on the streets burning something. I much prefer a red shirt when he plays dead as per thaksins orders.

And for those that say red shirts do not belong in jail I say "Where do they belong then? Guantanamo Bay!!"

Well done and lest hope these criminal thugs do not get bail and do spend all 15 years thinking about their destabilising antics that was counter productive to helping the majority of Thai's. Unless helping citizens of a country is by burning that country down. Only in Thailand is that mentality accepted. Luckily it is only accepted by a violent minority...

Jamie, maybe you could pay them a visit and impart your 15 principles of whatever and guide them along the path to redemption.

Forget that. There is no redemption for red shirts.

red-shirt arsonists

Seems redundant doesn't it?

That's not really fair. They are not just one-trick ponies : they have many more abilities than that:

Drive by AK47 shootings

M79 Grenade launching

Forming intimidation Mobs outside court-rooms if one of their leaders has been caught.

Attacking the PM's car if he dares to enter red-shirt country

Throwing fire-bombs, grenades or ping-pong bombs at the homes of newspaper people

Shooting opposition candidates if they dare to appear in red-shirt areas

Willingness to throw the rest of the country under a bus if they see something in it for them personally

And others I'm sure missed with an off-the-cuff reply. Oh - and the biggest one of all:

Extreme hypocrisy. Total denial of what they all know is true.

Another good news for Thailand.....

Hope now that the red leaders will be receive the same corraction like their followers : be in jail for a long time

maybe "we are red shirt" and the law didn't apply to them, it's about time those who stood on stage and directed them are locked up too, not as if there isn't any evidence, apply the law, that is all Thailand needs......apply the law, respect for the authorities will follow, apply the law

But the lawyer won't go to jail win or lose so why should he care?
