Hi all, I have read some of threads here. But I would like to ask, is it possible to attain motorbike license here in bangkok when I do not have any license back in my country?

If yes, what are the procedures for it?

Thanks :)

Yes

You need to take a test and you will need your own bike or borrowed/rented from a friend. At least that was the case last time I looked into it. I took my car test and that cost me 205 baht, not sure how much the bike test costs but Im sure in due course someone will help with that

Sure it is possible.

At my DLT (upcountry) it was like described here.

Appointment had to be made. Three (!) weeks waiting time to get an appointment.

You have to have the documents ready when doing the appointment.

It was a two day session (with lots of breaks/waiting).

First day:

physical test, followed by lengthy tuition sessions about theory in Thai incl. watching movies.

Very boring.

Second day:

in the morning theoretical test (45 out of 50 questions must be right).

You need to prepare for this test. Its not that easy. Especially because some questions are outright ridicolous or have no factually correct answer.

There is a catalog of 90 questions in English out of which the 50 are selected by the test computer.

I had at least two question duplicate tongue.png

The theory test as well as the tuition is unspecific (nothing specific about motorbike riding). A shame.

In the afternoon there was the practical test. A complete joke. You would have to faint to fail.

Most challenging part of the practical test, driving straight for 15m biggrin.png

Thanks for this information. But may I ask about the timing of the session? As I have school in the day, I do not know whether it will crash with it. If it does, I have to wait until my break to book it.

Sure it is possible.

For timing you'll have to enquire with your dlt.

Indeed, don't take my report as a template for the whole country. I am not in Bangkok.

But I am pretty sure that you will have a lengthy tuition session which you have to obtain.

As I have school in the day, I do not know whether it will crash with it. If it does, I have to wait until my break to book it.

Thats what many young students do (most applicants are in the 16 to 20 year old range).

So April and October are quite busy months for motorcycle license.

Oh dear ,I never got a mocy license ,thought they were mopeds with those tit turd engines.Over 250 cc is a Bike ,just.

Well, I also thought "what for". Car license will be OK.

Not when you are stopped in Pattaya wink.png

500 Baht without receipt and off I went.

Right.

My 150cc turd does only 150kph.

Ridiculous that I am required to be licensed.

What is the legal speed limit here?

90?

You won't learn almost nothing in this sessions except maybe from the movies.

But the lady sent me back in the room when she saw me sitting outside tongue.png

I left the room because some late coming Thai hippie couple sat behind me and started to gabble loudly.

Cheeky, no discipline.

To learn/practice there are a couple of resources on-line.

Also the pool of the 90 questions in English can be found.

I don't want to detail that here. Many DL threads about that/

As said: theory test is the same as for car license.

Don't bother, he's the same guy who tells people to get a 600cc bike as a learner bike on the basis that they've never been on 2 wheels before; AND THEN get a 1,000cc bike after a few weeks.
