Prachinburi holds a drill for air ambulance service

PRACHINBURI, 08 October 2015, (NNT) - Government officials and representatives of the private sector and medical personnel in Prachinburi province this week held a drill to simulate transporting an emergency patient by air.

The practice on Wednesday, was aimed at preparing medical officials for emergency situations where patients need to be transported to better facilities using air transportation. The operation was a joint effort by the military, government units, private sector, Chao Phraya Abhaibhubate Hospital, rescue officers and officials from the province's office of disaster prevention and mitigation.

The drill simulated a real life event where a patient has developed a life threatening medical condition and needs to receive medical attention from a hospital in Bangkok. The patient then needs to leave Chao Phraya Abhaibhubate Hospital by air, in order to reach the destination as soon as possible. The officials also made a video call to better communicate with the medical personnel at the destination for better coordination.
