Can a Thai lab do a thyroid analysis using a dried blood spot

Featured Replies

I am trying to find out if there is a lab in Thailand that can do a standard thyroid panel (at least TSH, T3, and T4) using a self administered dried blood spot on a card of filter paper.

The ones I can find all seem to want a vial of fresh blood from a clinic, and that is not practical for me. I'm looking for a very cost effective way to do this entirely by mail. Companies sell kits to do this in the US, but they are very expensive and require sending the samples overseas.

Any recommendations are appreciated.

Thanks.

I do not know one.

Reliable testing can only guaranteed from approved licensed Labs which participate in an ongoing Quality assurance program.

If you find a Thai lab which offers what you seek make sure the Lab meets the above criteria.

No, there is not, and I would question the accuracy of such kits even where labs are available.

The reason being that thyroid hormone levels are measured in the plasma portion of the blood.

You can get a thyroid panel done at a hospital or lab here for usually under 1,000 baht.
