HOW are Islamic State extremists getting their hands on so many Toyota four-wheel-drives?

Recommended Posts

The fact is the Toyotas were supplied by the US government to the Al Nusra Front as ‘non-lethal aid’ then ‘acquired’ by ISIS.

Al Nusra Front is literally Al Qaeda.

Public Radio International – an American public radio outlet – also documented a specific shipment of Toyotas by the U.S. State Department in 2014:

Recently, when the US State Department resumed sending non-lethal aid to Syrian rebels, the delivery list included
43 Toyota trucks
.

Hiluxes were on the Free Syrian Army’s wish list. Oubai Shahbander, a
Washington-based advisor to the Syrian National Coalition, is a fan of the truck
.

“Specific equipment like the Toyota Hiluxes are what we refer to as force enablers for the moderate opposition forces on the ground,” he adds. Shahbander says the US-supplied pickups will be delivering troops and supplies into battle. Some of the fleet will even become battlefield weapons.

When I worked in Algeria Al-Qaeda was quite active. If you wanted to go more than 20km from base camp you had to have a military escort. I asked why it was necessary as we were in the desert. I was told Al-Qaeda would kill you, take the vehicle and sell it in Chad. That way they would be helping fund their activities.

Same problem with global warming. Big companies not willing to sacrifice opportunities for revenue.

Common sense often sacrificed, and is hard to do with the attitude of a lot of boards of directors, C.E.O.'S and shareholders.

Has to be tough penalties, and bad PR. VW is a good example. The people's wagon is not above a few shortcuts for good PR.

To the NRA, they will all go out and,buy Toyota's, as if Isis uses them must be macho.

The UK helping with their overseas aid perhaps?

Not fair to give the Brits all the credit. I believe Obama left a few thousand Armor Plated hum-vees sitting with the keys in them. Real nice, good job.

I have asked this question and many other obvious questions mant times, the media, well 90% of them or more can never answer these questions.

ISIS are using mainly American arms, they can sell stolen oil through Turkey, Saudis are (allegedly) supplying them weapons.

The public are treated like stupid idiots world wide.

Bush once said, we will track down their money supplies and freeze them.

However this never has happened and America are being embarrased now as Russia make effective airstrikes against ISIS and their mates, American airstrikes a joke, American spending a joke.

Since the ARAB SPRING we have seen nothing but kaos in the middle east and a massive amount of Toyotas and weapons supplied to terror groups.

The media saddly are privatised shills and arms companies can manufacture and supply weapons at will and never be taken to task by Obama, CNN ,BBC, or any other PM or politician world wide.

I now find that RT is the only media outlet in the world today that goes near to publishing truths.

We have to always read between the lines with all media.

The world is a sad and corrupt mess at the moment and saddly the media still can convince masses, One look at Donald Trump should be enough to wake anyone up.

The Russians are not bombing ISIS. Do you just say whatever makes you feel good in a fact-free ramble? They're bombing opponents of the entrenched Russian interests--the Assad regime. RT , the truth?! It's worse than the old Soviet media, nothing but anti-American propaganda, about 10% truth and the rest twisted or outright lies.

You are dangerously naive if you think there is a big difference between ISIS and Al Quaeda. Ever notice how they all fly the same flag? Why are the Syrian people online all talking about how there is finally some positive results against these extremists who invaded there country. Ok, so maybe you don't read Arabic, but then why are US military personel, who are high ranking officers saying the same thing. There is a huge uproar in the ranks as becomes clear that the state department is sabatoging any honest attempts to attack these extremists.

NATO and US forces destroyed Iraq to kill one man, Saddam Huessin. Afghanistan to kill Bin Laden, Libya to kill Gaddaafi, and now are tearing apart Syria to unseat Assad. Four countries destroyed to kill four people. Does that really make sense to you?

I dont think he is naive, think he just watches too much Fox News....now there is a great example of twisted propaganda ;)

I remember seeing comments after the U.S. was kicked out of Somalia that Toyota 4WD are the vehicle of choice for warlords the world over. Reliable, easy on gas (unlike the Humvees ISIS captured from the Iraqi and CIA armed forces), easy to maintain, easy to train drivers, easy to get spare parts. The only advantage the Humvees have is they're armored, so ISIS loads them up with explosives and drives them up to fortifications and sets them off, because they don't have trained people to use the heavy artillery they also captured from the Iraqi and CIA armed forces. But I'm curious, too. I know they're getting a lot of money from Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States, which of course the Americans don't stop because our allies, so maybe they're importing the Toyotas through that channel, too. And, of course, they're selling some of the oil they've captured and of course the U.S. doesn't have power to stop that, as Putin has pointed out. Yes, it's very difficult to devise a strategy when we're the ones who created ISIS and tried to use it against Bashar al Assad.

Zero % financing or we'll bomb your neighborhood. And a free tank of gas. Besides they are very dependable in the desertcheesy.gif .

They’re indeed dependable.

I’m driving the Land Cruiser Pick-Up, LX-V6 Single Cab (the one with optional rocket launcher on the back) and no complaints except for the speed limiter that cuts in at 175 km/Hr.

Plenty of rpm left at that speed but never mind.

Plus you get two gasoline tanks of 90 liter each instead of only one.

Russia is an embarassment to good old USA, saddam Husien never had weapons of mass destruction , Blair and Bush sold the world a lemon. They are selling the world the same lemon over Asaad.

If you tell a lie long enough people will believe it.

Of 83 billion$$$ of aid that went to Afghanistan only 1 billion went to buying food the rest went to weapons and corruption.

Isis uses american arms, so where do they get them and the money to buy them and the Toyotas.

Assaad is not wanted by America as they have other ideas, all America has done to the middle east is trash it.

However if you are an American feel free to vote for Donald.

Just have a look at who is on RT and interviewed , many of the highest intellecuals world wide including ex high ranking CIA

Even good old Larry King has moved to RT.

Well said, o personally agree with you.

Just a note:

The American Humvees were left with the Iraqi military who abandoned some of them in their rush to escape ISIS.

Maybe they are test models provided by Toyota to see how they stand up in extreme conditions.

Toyota most likely has never tested to see how many goats or slaves one can get into the back of a landcrusier....would be good test info to put in literature in places like Saudi
