Kerry calls for end to incitement as he meets Israel's Netanyahu

BERLIN: -- US Secretary of State John Kerry has called for an end to incitement, as a wave of violence between Israelis and Palestinians continues.

He has been meeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Berlin. Netanyahu blames the Palestinians for the surge in unrest.

“There is no question that this wave of attacks is driven directly by incitement, incitement of Hamas, incitement from the Islamist movement in Israel and incitement I’m sorry to say from President Abbas of the Palestinian Authority,” said Netanyahu.

Speaking to reporters alongside Netanyahu, Kerry said: “It’s absolutely critical to end all incitement and all violence and to find a road forward to build the possibility, which is not there today, for a larger process.”

At least nine Israelis have died in Palestinian stabbings, shootings and vehicle attacks since the start of October.

Forty-eight Palestinians, including 24 attackers, have been killed by Israeli security forces.

Tension over the al-Aqsa mosque compound in Jerusalem’s Old City is among the causes of the unrest.

The compound is Islam’s holiest site outside Saudi Arabia and is also revered by Jews as the location of two ancient Jewish temples.

Netanyahu has pledged to maintain a decades-old status quo at the compound that bans Jews from praying there and has denied Palestinian allegations that he intends to change the arrangement.

In diplomatic speak, Kerry is saying he does not fully agree with Netanyahu's propaganda that the Palestinians are responsible for the incitement.

And Kerry is right in that. Increased visits to al Aqsa, continued evictions in Jerusalem, continued settlement building, and condoning (by inaction) Israeli vigilantism are all incitements.

It is not Muslim holiest site, it is third holiest site.

From the OP:

Patently nonsensical.

Who made you official 'diplomatic-speak' translator?

Your distortions and outright lies are getting tedious.

Your foolishness notwithstanding, people on this forum are smart enough to read and interpret Kerry's words for themselves.

Give it a rest...

Educated people know that diplomatic language is different from normal conversational language.

I guess that's why you miss so many humorous insinuations aimed at you.

If you want to make the slanderous accusation that I made an outright lie, you had better back it up with some proof.

And ditto to you..."Educated people know that diplomatic language is different from normal conversational language.

You either win and come first or you do not.

When one preys with backside facing so called holiest site, it kind of becomes not so holly after all .

And you are right , do not let facts get in the way of truth

It is not stupidity, it is groveling and historical revision. It is Judaism's most holy site and was not ever considered the "furthest mosque" by the prophet or any other in his life. In fact, this would have been blasphemous as the prophet's ire at the Jews was keenly the result of his having offered to make the qiba (direction of muslim prayer toward this site) and the Jews sound rejection of it. Thus began the dehumanization and subsequent extermination of the Jews- because they did not subsume into the new religion. To suggest this was a holy site is ludicrous. In fact, it was long after the prophet's death that a caliph from now Syria sought to move the centrality of the islamic faith closer to Damascus and then built the legend that this Judaic site was the location of the prophet's night journey, an assertion that would have been untenable during the prophet's life. Inherent in so much of the misinformation about the Arabs and Jews is less stupidity and more antisemitism. So, while it appears the western media often genuflect at Islam's feet they are more likely to be simply acting as thorns in Israel's side.

Kerry is devoid of character. Truth and meaning are always de jure for him. As with all things in this region there is always enough blame to go around. At this point in the morass one could hardly point to this or that, he or him; there are now always attendant history provoking every act. But Kerry apologizes to name a PA head speaks volumes about his Freudian deportment. He should apologize for starting a nuclear arms race in the middle east, being bedfellows with the Iranian negotiator, handing Israel's greatest enemy is greatest boon, and exposing Jewish posterity to an uncertain future by his pandering to anti-Semites.Under Obama's vision and Kerry's stewardship, the US has done more long lasting harm to the region than had been done in generations of tribal warfare.

I think you mean libelous, not slanderous...

Your ignorance notwithstanding, it is my opinion that you distort facts, and are, in fact, a liar. Making an affirmative statement, without knowledge, is lying. You have no more insight into what Kerry meant than any living person, other than Kerry himself.

As for libel, hard to do on an anonymous forum, technically. If you PM me with your true identity, I'll happily announce my statement on your veracity to the greater public. Then you can bring it on...

Just another Jew-hating bully, aren't you?
