Fiancee Visa Help

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

I want to know if when applying for a Fiancée visa with my Thai girlfriend if I have to have over a specific amount of money in my bank account? I currently earn over the required yearly Income, but with Bills and expenses in the UK I never really have over £500-£1000 in my bank. Will this be a problem when applying for the Fiancée Visa?

Also do you have to have a marriage registered at a registry office for the Fiancée Visa or will a letter of intent work? And is there any benefits of having a Date set? Will it make the Visa more likely to be successful?

Thanks,

Terry

If you meet the financial requirement, then it doesn't matter how much you have in the bank. Assuming that you have an income of at least 18,600 GBP a year, then you can be overdrawn at the bank. It doesn't matter.

You have to demonstrate that you have made enquiries into the marriage taking place within 6 months of your fiancee's arrival in the UK. Without this evidence the application will be refused. Some register Offices will provide confirmation that you have made enquiries, some will book a provisional wedding date. Some will inform you that they cannot do anything until your fiancee is in the UK, and until they have seen her visa/documents. What you have to do is demonstrate that you have made the enquiries. Email evidence from a register Office confirming the enquiry should be sufficient. Whether a date is set or not is not strictly relevant.
