Can't find much on this luggage question except for http://airportpattayabus.com/suvarnabhumi-airport-pattaya-bus-schedule-timetable which has left me with a slight headache trying to understand.

It says: “Each customer is allowed to have 1 small personal bag that fits in the overhead compartment (very small space) and 1 normal sized checked baggage with the maximum standard size of 48W-29D-76H in centimeter or 19”W-11”D-30”H with maximum linear dimension of 153 cm. and maximum weight of 20 kg. If the size or the weight is more than the standard limit, you will be subject to oversize or overweight charge.” Then they go on talking about having 3 checked bags.

Okay now, the question is, how big is a “small personal bag that fits in the overhead compartment”? Is that a standard carry-on bag or a fanny pack? Lots of room for discussion. So, for those of you who have actually taken this bus, can you fill me in? I have the usual, the shoulder bag with laptop, tablet and spare toothbrush, plus one standard carry-on bag 35 cm x 22 cm x 55 cm and one checked bag 47 cm x 27 cm x 76 cm. I'm staying for a long time so I think I need all that.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thankswai2.gif

The carryon bag will not fit, the shoulder bag likely will but that overhead is truly a small space. So submit bot the carryon and the regular checked bag for the checkin, you should have no problem, just talk nice nice and smile.

The overhead luggage bins are narrow and open; quite useless really. There is usually a fairly ample amount of room under the seat. There is also a small storage area above the toilet on some of the buses. I have never seen the attendants question several bags...they just give you a tag and toss them in the storage compartment.

In my experience, you can put two bags in the hold at the airport without any extra charge. On the return trip from Jomtien they charge for second and subsequent bags, I paid 20 baht per bag. So OP has nothing to worry about beyond (possibly) being charged a few baht.
