Saphan Hin curfew starts Monday

PHUKET: Phuket Municipality, in conjunction with the Phuket City Police, have announced new curfews for Sapan Hin in an effort to reduce teen violence in the area.

The new policy follows orders from the Phuket Provincial Office to strengthen security at Saphan Hin after gang violence led to the shooting death of a 15-year-old bystander during the final hours of the chaotic Phuket Vegetarian Festival (story here).

Starting November 16, the entrances near the Prince of Chumphon pavilion and the Saphan Hin police box will be closed from midnight until 5am, while the entrance from Rattanakosin 200 Pi Road will be closed from 10pm until 5am.

Hmm.... could nearly believe its Saphan Hin which is the problem... not the teenagers. Just like they not have another area to gather in.

maybe we could find police to control law and order.

We have shut the gate, I wonder where the horses are. No worries I am sure they will easily find somewhere else to corral, not our problem now, somebody elses.

Typical Thai Government - solution that doesn't solve the problem(s)

Chalong bay area. Bad enough already but the gangs hanging around at night will make it much worse. The BIB at the roundabout wont go down the dark streets

At the age of one I discovered that I'm actually not hiding by covering my eyes with my hands. Now I learn others are not that lucky.

OMG - once again deal with the symptons and not the cause(s)! Always the "easy" way out

Heard a radio interview with Hank Williams Jr. years back. He was asked what he thought of Gun Control ...
