Jingthing
A better question is how non-Muslims can encourage the tiny, but morally correct, movement among global Muslims that is working to REFORM the religion of Islam and/or Muslim culture from within. Of course any involvement from non-Muslims would not be appreciated by most Muslims, at least I would assume that. That's the hope for the future. You're not going to end Islam or any major world religion. But If Islam could be nudged to a more modern place as happened with Christianity (not saying perfect, but the Spanish Inquisition is OVER) that would be a huge win for Muslim people (especially women) and the entire world. Yes, I know I am dreaming. Any significant reform of that nature if it ever happens, is likely to take hundreds of years. Post-colonialism again, not so much a religious issue.
ravip
This is not an attack on democracy, it is an attack and declaration of war on western civilization, culture and values. Governments have lost their last shreds of credibility by failing in their mandate to protect their citizens. Fighting a fantasy enemy is the perfect ploy to tighten control and reign in freedom all in the name of security. Government is primarily interested in consolidating it's power at the expense of its citizens.
